Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 13, 2013 5:26 pm Just designing our kitchen - the one wall is 3m. I am having full height cupboards for this....by the time I take out the 600 oven housing and the fridge and the 600m deep countertop at the corner - I am left with 780 for a pantry ( blind corner) Is that too wide for 1 door - as it is not wide enough really for 2 doors.... Re: width of pantry door..... 2Jan 13, 2013 6:01 pm We had the opposite problem, our fridge space somehow was crazy small and so needed to reduce our pantry door to 620mm to allow us over 1m for our fridge. Was originally a 720mm door. 780 is quite wide - is it an integrated door or a normal door? Integrated (which I wish I had done) won't matter as you can have 2 x 390 doors or 1 x 780mm door like your cupboards full height. If it's a normal door - you could look at a 720mm door and fill up the 60mm gap with a standing wine rack maybe. Bit difficult without the plan - sorry! can you even get a 780 wide door?? If so then no I don't think it will look funny. I have an image when I was looking at kitchens and their blind pantry door was much wider than that and looked good. will see if I can find it and post it.. Yes the pantry door and the blind panel (over the countertop) next to it will all be the same as the other kitchen cabinets - which will be acrylic - colour undecided ( see my other post) Re: width of pantry door..... 6Jan 13, 2013 7:34 pm Kind of like this?? This looks much wider than 780mm or at least not far off... door closed door open Blog: http://cbcbuild.blogspot.com.au/ Building Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62155 Re: width of pantry door..... 7Jan 13, 2013 7:38 pm [quote="Lilac"]Kind of like this?? I think the position will be just fine. Any bigger and it will start to dominate the space. Mario Re: width of pantry door..... 9Jan 13, 2013 9:42 pm I would never put a hinged door in a kitchen wider then 650mm. If I did I wouldnt warrent the hinges or the door as they wouldnt last long. The door will sag in no time and the hinges would eventually fail. Hinges used by cabinet makers are great but dont like the weight of wide doors. I personally would have two doors but bifold them towards the bench top. If i am having a blind pantry and therefore want access to the area behind the work\top into the corner...would it not be better to hinge the other way? They would sit flat against the bench top allowing complete access to the entire cupboard including the blind corner part of it. If you hinged them on the other side it would be strange. Re: width of pantry door..... 13Jan 15, 2013 9:39 pm Evelin [\ out of curiosity, why wouldn't you have the door hinged on the left side of the cabinet? Why would you though?? If you put a door on the left hand side then your impeading you access into the pantry. If the door were open you would have to walk around it to get to the pantry.
