Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 09, 2013 10:59 am The manufacturer states 750mm above the gas cooktop for our undermount rangehood. Is 750mm really necessary? I thought the minimum was something like 600-650. The additional 100mm pushes our remaining overheads quite high if we want to keep them inline thanks Re: Rangehood height above cooktop 2Jan 09, 2013 11:10 am Our rangehood manufacturer recommends 650-750mm, from highest point of cooking surface to underneath of rangehood, and then they say must not be less than 600mm as per AS5601. But I have not read the standard. You should be able to mount at 650, but you will have to double check with the manufacturer if you want to keep your warranty 2 Re: Rangehood height above cooktop 3Jan 11, 2013 10:39 am Take a look at these standard kitchen dimensions as well as Australian kitchen standards (in particular AS4386.2 Domestic Kitchen Assemblies – Installation) to get an understanding. These are minimum standards but you must install as per the manufacturers specifications. The wall cupboards either side of the rangehood do not need to line up with the bottom of the rangehood. My daughter and son in law are about to start building, they are having a 600mm induction cook top and 900mm oven.
