Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 11, 2008 12:40 pm Some of the designs we are considering for our kitchen look like they will have a stone bench (Ceaser/Granite/whatever) that will be longer than 3060mm.
What does a join in a stone bench actually look like? Is it best avoided, or can it be made unobtrusive? Thanks for your help. When done correctly they are almost invisible. We are really happy with our benchtops and I will endeavour to get some shots later tomight to show you. Re: Joins in stone benches 3Apr 11, 2008 12:54 pm Now thats a difficult one .... we are also having to look at joins in our benchtops but I've seen some really really good examples of good joins... I've seen a Snow and a Mink in Ceaserstone that look almost seamless, with a tiny hairline crack when you really look at it - but I've also seen a laminate that looks really obvious - it really drew your eye to it... I think it really depends on the skill of the person who is making or installing the bench....
We are going to try to minimise the need for a join in our largest bench (4.5m length) by having a free-standing 900 oven -that means that either side is at their longest around 1.8m length) - but our island bench is 3.6m long and I'm not sure where it will be best to put the join ... but I'm going to leave that decision up to the stonemason who we will be getting in to do it ..... Fiona Re: Joins in stone benches 4Apr 11, 2008 10:31 pm We have a join in the island in the new house, we didnt even know it was there until I measured the bench and realised it was longer than 3m, so went looking for it.
