Hi everyone!
We are going to renovate a kitchen in our recently bought house and looking for a granite bench top and I am interested how granite slabs are usually jointed at other peoples kitchens.
Our bench top will be an L-shaped and we are looking at 20 mm thick granite. We've visited only 1 granite supplier so far and we were told that bench top of this size and shape can not be done in one piece, granite is too brittle and heavy for this. This part is fine. But where those 2 granite slabs can be jointed? This supplier says that our L will consist of 2 straight parts (a long "I" and a shorter "_"). But this will give pretty long joint line, not something we would like to see.
Current kitchen also has an L-shaped granite benchtop and pretty much the same size, but 2 slabs are joined in a much nicer way near a cooktop, so a joint line is very short (about 5-7 cm) and does not attract any attention. So it looks like one slab in L shape, but with a pretty short return and then another slab is straight and they are surrounding a cooktop and join there.
What do you guys have at your kitchen? How slabs are joined in this situation?
Cheers.
