Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Dec 18, 2012 3:52 pm So as it asks. ...... Anyone used laminex nostalgia profile cabinetry doors? I would love to see some pics. We are having a sample door sent down to see before the final decision as the last door profile we were sent I wasn't to keen on. Hit me with your pictures Re: Anyone used laminex nostalgia profile cabinetry doors? 2Dec 20, 2012 4:38 pm We nearly used the nostalgia profile and like you had to have a sample piece sent for us to look at but in the end we opted to go with polytec as they had a lot more profiles to choose from. Look forward though also to seeing if anyone else has used this particular profile. We found it difficult in our area to actually see samples of doors that had profiles on them for Laminex or Polytec which was frustrating. Are you going for shaker style kitchen? Re: Anyone used laminex nostalgia profile cabinetry doors? 3Dec 20, 2012 4:46 pm We had actually chosen the polytech Oberon but when we got the sample the middle section just wasn't deep enough. We are wanting a basic shaker profile but it's proving difficult to find. I know a lot af cabinet makers make there own doors but most around my area buy them in. I hope the laminex ones are suitable or I don't know what I will do!!!! I never realized it could be so difficult. I have this picture in my head and pictures of how I want it tolook, I just hope we can pull it off. It's our dream home so I want it to be perfect after all this planning. Re: Anyone used laminex nostalgia profile cabinetry doors? 4Dec 20, 2012 10:55 pm I feel your pain as we were in a similar position. I know from images how I want it to look but when it has actually come to picking a "shaker" style door it becomes confusing because if you really look at images of these types of kitchens there is no one shaker pattern, there is such a wide range of panels used. We also looked at kitchen places and noticed that a lot of them do their own panelled doors but our kitchen company has never done this type of kitchen and don't do their own routering of doors so it was Laminex or Polytec for us. In the end I just picked and have crossed my fingers it looks alright and I am just reminding myself that of the four kitchens I used as my inspiration they all have shaker style kitchens but all of them have a slightly different moulding to the door and each of them still look great. Re: Anyone used laminex nostalgia profile cabinetry doors? 5Dec 20, 2012 11:10 pm Hey in regards to the oberon and the Cammeray found they are not deep enough I agree and we actually have our internal doors in our soon to be house that are identical to the Cammeray and they are not very deep and they also have that annoying line through the ends of the panels that I didn't particularly want. But they will be great for minimising dust. Check out the blog http://whiteverandah.blogspot.com.au/se ... el/kitchen I think she has used something close to the Lismore from Polytec which seems to be the simplest shaker but still deep enough. Also the kitchen I tried to base my new kitchen on http://georgicapond.blogspot.com.au/201 ... eveal.html she has had her kitchen company router her's specially. It is a little more intricate and what I have tried to copy as I love her kitchen. They are both different panels when viewed up close but both still give the same overall look. Have a look at Houzz too and you will also see that each panel differs so much which has helped me not stress as much about it, it will be white with panelled doors so it should look close enough.
