Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Nov 28, 2012 1:16 pm Hi, I ordered a fridge with the handles on the RHS specifically because I have the fridge on the LHS of the kitchen. And this way I can easily open the fridge from within the kitchen without walking around it. However, I failed to take into account the wall on the LHS extends about 20-30cm further than the benchtop on the RHS, so opening the fridge will effectively hit the wall if I go beyond 90 degrees. Obviously its inevitable that someone will open it into the wall and damage the stainless steel door. Any ideas of what to put on the wall to prevent the door getting damaged? I was thinking some rubber or foam of some kind but not sure where to find it. If the handle was on the LHS of the fridge then it would open towards the benchtop but you could open it a lot more, which is a mistake that I made Thanks Re: Stainless Steel Fridge hitting LHS wall (handle on RHS) 3Nov 28, 2012 2:10 pm Any examples? The fridge is 2-door so one door is in the air, unless I attach a door stop mid-wall. The freezer door will hit the skirting and not go too far... Re: Stainless Steel Fridge hitting LHS wall (handle on RHS) 4Nov 28, 2012 2:25 pm Ahh yes I didn't think about the top freezer door. Failing a wall mounted door stop x2 (which would look pretty ugly), I'd be looking at modifying the hinge to prevent travel. This would require you to be reasonably handy with metalworking tools.
