It is hard to get a handle on the cost of a sheet as the wholesalers do not give you a price but rather just advise you to talk to your kitchen installer/stonemason about the total cost. They then negotiate their own price for the stone. BUT to get a little bit of a handle on how high this cost is. We are getting stone bench tops with waterfall ends and a stone facade, a windowsill plus an out door kitchen bench. This will need three sheets and from a reputable stone mason the total cost installed is $6,200. There is a lot of labour involved to build and install so they must be getting black galaxy granite ( more expensive than engineered stone) for less than $1,000 a sheet when you think about it. Why don't you try to get the credit and organise the bench top yourself? Are you allowed to do that? Re: Essastone or Diamond Gloss 3Nov 01, 2012 3:24 pm I've just sent my plans to one granite supplier. As Diamond Gloss is free in my build I am thinking it would do just as nicely. Re: Essastone or Diamond Gloss 4Nov 01, 2012 3:33 pm While I cant comment on the cost, Diamond gloss benchtop would scratch very easily compared to Stone bench top.. so if you are considering doing diamond gloss as your kitchen benchtop it wont be looking as good as stone after a few years.. I have it in my house, and so far I've found it's very difficult to keep it looking clean. I have to wipe it down, then buff it with a soft cloth to get rid of smear marks as you can see them from every angle. If you can go with stone, definitely go with stone. Re: Essastone or Diamond Gloss 7Nov 01, 2012 6:55 pm Ouch for the price! I better get saving! We got an upgrade in our kitchen to stone but only one sheet which means our island bench will only be 80cm wide makes the overhang only 15cm. We are thinking of getting a second sheet so we can have the island bench at least 90cm possibly 1m and then use the stone that was going to be the island for our bathrooms. I hadn't asked about the price had hoped it would be $1000-$1500. Hopefully we can make some savings elsewhere! Re: Essastone or Diamond Gloss 8Nov 01, 2012 7:14 pm a. Can't give advice on price -sorry b. I have seen real estate sale ads that mention stone bench tops but never seen an ad mention diamond gloss! That probably indicates that stone is more pleasing to buyers. c. I don't think Diamond Gloss would wear as well as stone over many years given all the scratches on my kitchen bench in a previous home! daveandally1 I've found it's very difficult to keep it looking clean. I would have to agree 100% with this comment. Go stone if at all possible.
