Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Oct 31, 2012 11:14 am Just after some advice, and possible pics if anyone has any? We've got no overheads in our kitchen and looking at putting some in. We are going to DIY and we have found a guy who has some white gloss overheads for a fairly reasonable price in flatpack. Problem is our existing cabinets are not gloss. We've got polyrey smoke tulip as cupboards (below) and our benches are vega mega white, which is very bright white, with a very faint shine to it. Re: Mixing Gloss & Matt Finish Cabinets 2Oct 31, 2012 11:49 am Definitely! We are having 'White Shimmer' Caesarstone benchtops, with timber-look cupboards, and charcoal coloured gloss overheads. I love contrasting textures, I think it will look fine! 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Mixing Gloss & Matt Finish Cabinets 3Oct 31, 2012 11:51 am Yep, definitely! - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. This wood grain was then carried through to all the upper cabinets, kick board and the kick panel under the bench. The bench top was then a light coloured stone. I had thought about using a gloss woodgrain but reckon it would have been too much, so am very happy with the matt wood and gloss white. I asked this question of one of the forum's resident cabinet makers who may/may not wish to identify himself to answer other questions if he sees this, but the rersponse… 3 7732 You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want. Cabinetmakers use MDF because its cheap… 2 9981 Thanks mate. Yeah good points! Leaning towards Option 3 to get a bit extra space in the cabinets but not going too crazy high (and expensive).
