Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Oct 07, 2012 1:43 pm Previously we were intending on getting (Beaumont) SuperWhite Porcelain Tiles for the main flooring on the Ground Floor. However, as we are way over budget, we have agreed to accept UE's promotional offer of Timber-Look flooring at no extra cost. We have chosen the Bolero - Rustic Black So now I am having to re-consider my choice in underbench and overhead cupboards in the kitchen. Previously, i was intending on having * Black gloss cupboards underbench * Pure White stone benchtop * Black Splashback * Black Oven Tower * White Gloss Overhead cupboards. It would have looked similar to this in terms of colours: The Black underbench cupboards would have looked so good against the Superwhite tiles but now that the floor is dark, do i make the underbench cupboards White and the Overhead Cupboards Black and still have a Black Oven Tower and Black Splashback? Or do i make the Oven Tower White? I am really not wanting to change the Splashback as i don't like the look of white as it appears more greenish in some pictures i've seen. Or do you think i don't need to change a thing regardless of the dark flooring? I would really appreciate your advice please! You want to keep the splashback black so if you change the overheads and oven tower to black for me it is too much glossy black, great if that is what you want but for me there is no contrast just lots of black. I think the floor is a different type of black, rustic not glossy so it is different to your cupboards if you keep the island black and I would prefer less contrast there then the other option. I personally think there are 3 options that would look alright. Keep as is. Change the splashback to white make the island white and overheads and tower black or make the island white, splashback black, overheads and cupboards below white with oven tower black. Who said having only two colours in your kitchen was the easy way out? Who said having only two colours in your kitchen was the easy way out? I think in my heart of hearts i want to keep it just as i have it. Our boys are just babies at the moment so we don't mind if the destroy and damage the floor in the next few years. We have plans to replace the floor with the superwhite porcelain tiles eventually so i guess eventually i will have my dream look. I agree that the floor isn't black black so perhaps it will make the black gloss cupboards look even more glossy black which is ideal! Aggghhh just wish i could see into the future! Thanks so much for your help and great advice everyone! Deb17 you are so kind to find those images for me! That has really helped make my decision thanks sooooo much!!!! And I love the look in those pictures. Can't wait to see your photos once it's done. Thanks deb! I will be absolutely crushed if it doesn't look anywhere as good as i hope it will.
