Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Oct 03, 2012 5:41 pm Hi Just wondering what I should do in regards to my kitchen layout, in particular the positioning of my ovens. I have purchased 2 miele ovens which are each 600mm high and was planning to have them stacked one above the other in the oven tower in my kitchen. Below the the ovens I have 2 pot drawers each 360mm high and above the ovens I have a 2-door cupboard. We had a kitchen designer draw everything up (and has done a beautiful job) but I am now concerned that the top oven may be too high to access safely. I am considering removing one of the drawers from the oven tower so then it would have just 1 pot drawer with the 2 ovens stacked above that and then a larger cupboard above. I am concerned though that this will throw out the symmetry that I currently have. Would love to get some feed back from others who have this same set up. Thanks VMR Logic will get you from A to B. With your measurements the bottom of the top oven would be about 1450 FFL. Mark that up a wall and see if you would feel safe lifting hot items from that height. Maybe have ovens with side opening doors. Should I go a 2 door cupboard? An open shelf (not sure if this would be good idea as it would get steam from oven)? Or a cupboard with a pull up handle? I have a pic with a mock up ( pretty crappy I know but my scanner is out of commission ) of what the kitchen will roughly look like with a space where the new opening is an one pic and second pic with a pull up cupboard. I am leaning towards this as I think it doesn't interrupt the flow of the kitchen as much but any suggestions would be appreciated. Do you need two full sized ovens or could you change one for a combi steam one which would be a bit shorter? I have a freestanding stove so in my tower I have a steamer oven and microwave and I have two drawers below at 270 each. At the top I have a small cupboard which I can’t reach so hubby stores his lunch esky and thermos there. In the gap of 350 I got them to put slots for my recipe books and we made it 330 deep so they don’t get lost. http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s507/grumblebum54/PICT0021a.jpg Regards, Grumbles Re: Ideal Oven Height **** NEW PICS**** 6Oct 04, 2012 2:57 pm i like the 330 deep idea! I have one at home now and am forever losing my books! Re: Ideal Oven Height **** NEW PICS**** 7Oct 04, 2012 11:44 pm Hi, i have also purchased 2 60cm miele ovens, originally i was planning on having them both in a tower, but when i went to a friends house that has this configuration, and i tried to remove a hot lasagne out of the oven, i found that i could not reach (in saying that I am only 155cm tall). So I have had to redesign the kitchen. have you considered putting the 2 ovens side by side under the bench, under the cooktop? Recently I was at a display home and found the exact 2 ovens and cooktop that i have purchased setup this way and it looked fantastic.
