Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 26, 2012 11:29 am Hi All, I recently got a concept design back from my designer and i am having trouble picturing the layout of the shape of this kitchen. Can anyone give me any thoughts about this? I am worried that it is going to be really impracticle and annoying, but unsure of how to change it. Re: Advise on Kitchen Layout 3Sep 26, 2012 11:36 am Hmmm... any advice on how to post photos from photobucket? Doesn't seem to be working! Re: Advise on Kitchen Layout 6Sep 26, 2012 12:01 pm Wow, that is a unique and very intelligently thought out plan! I understand your concerns over the kitchen layout, anything put in an unconventional space is bound to cause some concerns as you won't have anything to directly compare it to. A couple of thoughts to start with, you could create a smaller really streamlined kitchen and a large scullery/butlers pantry where a lot of the storage/prep work can be done. You could square the kitchen off from the top wall and have all that space behind concealed. This would alter the placement of your servery if you wanted to keep that though. I have drawn what I have and have used now for 18 mths since moving in and LOVE it the sink is infront of the window, my dishwasher is on the right BUT DONT put yours on the right as it will block your pantry and cant put plates away while it is open, put it on the left then oven, with extractor going to outside, and either an oven tower to the left, or a below oven (I have a below oven under stove) then the fridge. we have a space that is a met wide, for a 2 door fridge. i am not saying do this, but for me it works brilliantly. I like a breakfast bar to be clear so I can use it for a buffet meal etc, i dont like a sink in it. the cupboards/ drawers behind on the wall, can be used for more bench space, phone, fruit bowl etc to keep breakfast bar clear the second last page of my thread has some pics on i was showing stellabella. there is one of the kitchen Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Advise on Kitchen Layout 12Oct 01, 2012 1:21 pm Re: Advise on Kitchen Layout 13Oct 01, 2012 1:22 pm [quote="kiwi"]I swear I am not stalking you! but when you notice someone , then you seem to be answering them all the time, sorry! I was going to repost this on my thread so I could get your opinion so i'm glad you found it, I don't mind if you stalk me... although that may make you coming to visit a bit awkward!! That is some great advice actually. I was considering putting the stove next to the sink but wasn't sure. I definitley want all the breakfast to be clear. I am a messy cook so need lots of room! Re: Advise on Kitchen Layout 14Oct 01, 2012 1:23 pm Oh, great photo!! that makes it so much easier to visualise. How do you find the microwave being low? Re: Advise on Kitchen Layout 15Oct 01, 2012 1:27 pm no probs , I only heat peas. we had a 1 yr old come to visit last night, our first little guest. SHE LOVED IT! so I turned it off at the wall, (which I can do, near the fridge/ oven switches etc) and it was a great toy for her. if i couldnt turn it off, NOT GOOD my kids like it cos they can heat spaghetti in it, rather than it being high up etc so for our family it works great, out the way, not using up bench space, but there to heat a dinner up, or warm water for my bread maker so for me, it isnt a problem, for little visitors, they love it. just like mummys oven! (but turned off) Re: Advise on Kitchen Layout 16Oct 02, 2012 11:22 am My last pantry was similar to yours and I had cupboards installed, forever on the knees trying to find stuff in the corner. NEVER AGAIN!! I would make it all shelving, will show you my diagrams, deeper shelves @ 450 for appliances and bottom left slots for muffin pan, long cake tins, cutting boards etc. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ On the wall adjoining the WIR you could put a white board for all the stuff you usually stick on the fridge. If you could move things around in your design I would probably do something like this. http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s507/grumblebum54/kitchenA.jpg If it must stay as is I would leave the island and long bench the same as above but get rid of that corner and do something like this. http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s507/grumblebum54/kitchenB.jpg Hope this gives you a little help and ideas for what you want. Regards, Grumbles Re: Advise on Kitchen Layout 17Oct 02, 2012 12:29 pm Shelves 100% no cupboards in pantry. This is the same as my pantry, you walk into it from the sink area, very handy when un stacking the dishwasher, things go straight on a shelf. I dont have a door, no need, no one sees and natural light is in there from window sink, with option to put light on if need be Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Advise on Kitchen Layout 18Oct 03, 2012 12:00 pm Hmm these are great ideas! I like the idea about moving the parnty actually. And it will give me a bigger wardrobe, can't be sad about that! Kiwi, do you think it will annoying having to walk around a corner to get to the pantry from the island bench? Re: Advise on Kitchen Layout 20Oct 03, 2012 12:37 pm Thanks to you also Grumblebum! I am rapped with your drawings, I see that as being more functional for sure! You never have a fridge against wall as you’ve drawn. The doors can’t open past 90 degrees and it’s difficult and maybe impossible to remove drawers 2 15610 Hi, We're building a double-storey in Perth and I'm undecided with the kitchen sink situation.
