Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: Advise on Kitchen Layout 21Oct 03, 2012 1:22 pm Are you lovely people able to give the dimensions of your pantry's? And are they a good size for you? Re: Advise on Kitchen Layout 22Oct 03, 2012 1:45 pm With kiwis kitchen and my drawing you would probably be doing most of your prep on the long bench so the pantry opposite would be ideal. Working on the pantry info, back in a sec. Regards, Grumbles Re: Advise on Kitchen Layout 23Oct 03, 2012 2:52 pm mines 1800 x 2000 for me I find it perfect. I would hate mine without one side having a bench with shelves under for cookbooks, platters food processor, so you can bake and not drag everything out to the main kitchen etc and on the other wall 350mm deep shelves, floor to ceiling. I dont have anything at the 2000 end, only on each side. Grumble has a beautiful kitchen, she has some lovely photos of hers. Great inspiration. (she has a sink in her pantry) I dont. Where your back of your new walk in wardrobe would be , I took 700mm off it and made a floor to ceiling appliance cupboard for rice cooker, crockpot etc It has a bi fold door which you can see in the photo I put on earlier on this thread I like having a sep cupboard for large items like woks, elect fry pan and I have a plug in there so bread maker is always in and ready to go. I also have my vacuum and a zillion baking dishes that take up a lot of room in a drawer, so they have their own shelf. in the appliance cupboard viewtopic.php?f=16&t=54788&start=20 you will see grumble and my pantries. Re: Advise on Kitchen Layout 24Oct 03, 2012 9:06 pm Mine is about 2280 x 2510 and is also shelving on one side and bench, drawers, sink and one shelf on the other. No corners allowed. The toaster and kettle live in the front corner and the drawer under is full of mugs. I use the bench for the slow cooker, rice cooker, mix master and bread maker and I have spare cutlery and crockery in a drawer because when I prepare meals in there I also dish them up. The sink is only small so I don’t wash up in it but it is great for filling the kettle, veg prep and rinsing stuff when I’m cooking. Thanks for adding the link kiwi. Regards, Grumbles Re: Advise on Kitchen Layout 26Oct 04, 2012 11:52 am getting very excited as i think i have just about got thedesign right! Question... if i had the cooktop opposite the island bench and the sink where it is, would it be annoying? Or do your think it would be better having the stove top right next to the sink? Re: Advise on Kitchen Layout 27Oct 04, 2012 12:16 pm Depends how you cook. I had no choice..so they had to be on the back bench next to each other with a 600mm bench space between. I am glad though, I didn't want to be draining things by ' turning around' and smacking into a child. This way I move sideways and drain potatoes etc. and no one gets hurt. Re: Advise on Kitchen Layout 28Oct 04, 2012 12:18 pm Yeah, thats a very good point. More to think about! Re: Advise on Kitchen Layout 29Oct 04, 2012 12:37 pm get your kitchen right...and you will love living in it! Re: Advise on Kitchen Layout 32Oct 04, 2012 1:10 pm I have a freestanding stove opposite the sink and it doesn’t bother me but I have a lot more years on me than kiwi so it’s the old man who gets in the way. My saucepans have almost become redundant because I do all my vegies in the steamer oven, didn’t like them much anyway, horrible heavy Scanpan things. I’m sure you’ll end up with a design that is just right for you, there is so much available.
