It looked pretty good with the white cupboards. The Grinch: Blast this Christmas music. It's joyful and triumphant Re: Black bench tops??? 3Sep 12, 2012 10:25 am We have CS Raven (dark charcoal colour) on the kitchen back benches and CS Osprey (off white) on the island and they are both very easy to keep clean. In fact the Raven probably shows fewer marks. I just use windex (the one that cleans and shines) and paper towel. Re: Black bench tops??? 4Sep 12, 2012 3:34 pm I was also warned off black benchtops for that reason, and my family are not naturally tidy people, but we ended up getting the Quantum Quartz Starlight Black (very similar to the CS night sky I think). It's actually quite speckled so hides dirt a lot better than I expected. I find it really easy to keep looking clean. The only thing it does show up is if you leave a glass sitting on it you get water mark rings and they can tend to stay there, even after you've wiped over them. No idea why. In my opinion I don't think it's any harder to keep looking clean than a lighter bench top. Alibaster cupboard doors with night sky benchtops and black glass splashbacks. All is good in the world! Re: Black bench tops??? 7Jan 02, 2013 7:21 pm You've just reassured me of my decision to go with black Essastone benchtops! The folks (parental units) were thinking that the black benchtop was like a car... ie. black cars show the dirt more than white cars. The black / white colour scheme is a winner - we're doing gloss white with accents of black (Essastone benchtop) and greyscale textures. YUM. Danois - we're looking at Karndean wood flooring for the floor Floor? I was thinking table top! (Btw., if Karndean is what I think it is, then it's vinyl, not actual, repairable, and natural linoleum). Re: Black bench tops??? 14Jan 03, 2013 2:51 am Ahhhh sorry crossed wires!! Essastone benchtops for kitchen and handmade wooden table for dining (I hunk that's what you meant?!) yup- Karndean is vinyl..... and totally blew my mind, it's nothing like the vinyl I remember!! Made the mister visit a store with me on NYE day to check some out, we were astounded that it was vinyl.... Looks like wood, looks like laminate, with all the good factors of vinyl. INSANE! I meant the bench top in linoleum! As in here: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ As for the vinyl, well I'm hypersensitive to a lot of things, and degassing vinyl and associated glues isn't really what I want to be near. But that's me having a specific health issue, so you can safely ignore that. Re: Black bench tops??? 16Jan 03, 2013 8:11 am Good choice with the black benchtops, we have Zulu (c/stone) and have no issue keeping it clean or dust free. You may be surprised as to how little there is in the price difference. Black granites such as black galaxy require no sealing and are much more scratch and heat resistant than engineered stone. I was almost ready to order an essastone bench top when the stonemason brought me a large piece of black galaxy and put it side by side. He then took to it and the essastone lightly with a stanley knife. One scratched the other left no mark. The shine and colour of the granite was far nicer. Glad he did it as we instantly changed our preference. As far as keeping then clean just a wipe with a damp and dry cloth after is all it takes. Re: Black bench tops??? 18Jan 06, 2013 7:11 pm Im tossing up whether to have black benchtops as well. The cleaning doesnt so much bother me as i think ill be so in love ill spend hours a day rubbing them anyway, but i didnt really want a modern look, and only went for black because one builder said the contrast between the new antique white i wanted and a dark counter was nice. Do you have any inspiration pictures of dark tops/white cupboards? do you think im better off going with a sandy colour for a more classic look? I guess my main question is were you thinking that colour scheme going for modern or classic look? The warning is on the sticker on the door too.
