Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 03, 2012 7:38 pm Thought I would post it here as well as in the decorating forum. I used 600 x 600 full gloss ceramic floor tiles for my bench tops. I still have to buff the edges and seal, you might be able to see that as you look through the photos. By using the tiles, which I LOVE I have saved myself $$$$$ with a pretty good end result. Before and after photos From this in 09 when I bought the house. A quick question about your buffet against your feature wall did you buy it like that or did you refinish it from second hand because it looks sensational. Thanks Re: my kitchen renovation 3Sep 04, 2012 6:08 am That's a 30 year old pine cabinet, it lived in my office. I got tired of it one day and did a make over. I've just ordered a new one for the dining room, not sure what I will do with the pine one now, I guess it will live in the garage for a while. Here's the link to the makeover..... viewtopic.php?f=6&t=54895 Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: my kitchen renovation 4Sep 04, 2012 9:14 pm Well done Michelle, looks like you have done a really good job. What adhesive did you use tu glue to the benchtops? Also, what substrate did you use for the benchtops? Please also tell how you plan to polish those thin edges - stone? Wet and Dry? or use some sort of laquer? You have certainly created a great impression. Thanks. Sub structure under the tiles a 33 mm chipboard, which my tiler and I had to water proof before putting the tiles on. Yes I'm going to sand with wet & dry around the edges, I just haven't had any spare time to myself to do this yet since the kitchen was finished. Then I'll apply a layer or 2 of a sealant, maybe a slate sealer. My original tile that I had as a sample had clean edges with colour all the way through, when these tiles came it threw a huge spanner in the works! Thank you, I love my kitchen and enjoy being in there whenever I can.
