Opps, I have actually made that mistake before. That can be forgiven but the staining job cant.
Have you had any answers yet regarding the finish?

Wait and see what gets returned. Re: Timber Kitchen Staining - Is this okay? 24Aug 18, 2012 4:37 pm Being the same builders Im hoping they get ours right keep us posted Re: Timber Kitchen Staining - Is this okay? 25Aug 19, 2012 11:41 am our dream home Being the same builders Im hoping they get ours right keep us posted Yes well maybe I should have just gone for a laminate instead of being different! At least it would be all the same. They haven't returned the draws/door panels as yet so will see what they look like. What have you chosen for your kitchen? Re: Timber Kitchen Staining - Is this okay? 26Aug 22, 2012 2:22 pm Laminate spotted manhattan I think it was called can't remember should check the contracts again! Still waiting on things to begin though! More variations have gone through nothing i have changed, just a problem with the house position, and I'm waiting on a call from the colour consultant as there is something they need to confirm with me I have yet to know what that is ! Are you having tiles in the kitchen? Sorry I have not read the other posts yet! You have probably answered that:) I also found with the games room and the dining room they had originally cut into the dining room with carpet so I've changed it and made the laminate area bigger fingers crossed it works as its hard to go off the plan. Yes tiles in the kitchen, same tile through out the whole house, just a feature tile in the ensuite on one wall. Got a better price to lay the tiles than told which is good, don't do any variations after contract!!! No one reads the variation list... I am putting tiles into the hall also so it joins the bathroom and pantry, didn't want carpet for 1 odd meter especially if people walking inside and out to go to loo. Re: Timber Kitchen Staining - Is this okay? 28Aug 23, 2012 8:43 am Good idea! I have not done any Variations they keep Coming back with them, one was a rebate for the concrete because they estimated to much and there are a few others they listed they had no choice but to amnend so I now have to call them and confirm what the email is about! Just a question I've paid the initial deposit but When did you have to pay the first installment on the contract it says "balance of deposit 4% was that before or after the slab? Re: Timber Kitchen Staining - Is this okay? 29Aug 23, 2012 1:37 pm We haven't had any variations from the builder to us just our changes when we signed the contracts, the writing is so small you can hardly read it and I don't think many do as my bathrooms have the wrong colour stone tops! The original colour was installed, luckily the kitchen is going to be the right one! We paid the initial deposit of 1% and then the balance of 4% gets paid in the first payment (slab), I am pretty sure this is standard but could be wrong. Either way I didn't have the 4% to pay in my bank! Re: Timber Kitchen Staining - Is this okay? 30Aug 23, 2012 9:50 pm I have worked it out! I was a little confused with the two next installments Either way! I've figured it out! I'm just sick of them sending me new variations, hopefully today was the last of it so they can get moving! Just want to see a slab or a pipe or something!!! we Dont have the 4% either!!! If I did I'd be building a mansion!!
Re: Timber Kitchen Staining - Is this okay? 32Aug 23, 2012 10:06 pm I can't wait! Today they sent through a big list door now changed as we are not in a bushfire zone, longer tap, tile grout change, carpet amended as they forgot to add the upgrade, tile colour change as its out of stock, splashback amendment!! Nothing they charged me for thankgoodness just more time! How far is yours off being completed? Good luck with it all! Re: Timber Kitchen Staining - Is this okay? 33Aug 28, 2012 8:20 am Have you got the fronts back yet? Is the colour more even? Some of the edges are rough so I am assuming they were sanded and stained but there are tiny spots on the doors where there is no staining, you can see the original timber on a lot of the door panels.... Not sure what to do as handover is soon I don't want this to hold it up. Cant believe they have turned out nothing like the image I gave them I am going to get my uncle who is a cabinet maker to give his opinion see what he says after he looks at them. I could do a better job than that, and I don't even get paid for it. Have they not heard of using alcohol to remove grease and oils before doing something like this? Seriously, it looks awful. Re: Timber Kitchen Staining - Is this okay? 38Oct 17, 2012 9:08 pm Thanks, glad someone agrees with me! The last photo you can actually see between the back panel and the edges, a white strip of unstained timber all the way down! You can actually see the white specks in the grain where there is no stain! Getting me motivated to fix! Re: Timber Kitchen Staining - Is this okay? 39Oct 17, 2012 9:38 pm I thought that white stripe was a reflection or something! Man, you should definately demand a fix. Personally, I would have done it myself at this stage, because it's obvious they don't have a clue what they're doing. But then again, it would mean they got off scot free. Re: Timber Kitchen Staining - Is this okay? 40Oct 17, 2012 9:47 pm You say the edges are "rough". Could this be reason for the white "specks"? I mean, if you have something rough and wipe it over, the staining won't get under that "loose" wood. In any case, it shouldn't be rough. It should be sanded down with very fine sandpaper at the end, just before it is degreased with acetone or alcohol and then stained. Hi, I have an area of zincalume cladding encasing a number of external downpipes. Unfortunately one of them has been permanently stained by some diluted phosphoric acid -… 0 907 Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15924 Thanks Simon, I guess I'm no concerned with the volume of the noise rather that dead and hollow sound and feel that is associated with floating floors. But I'm not sure… 3 6164 |
