Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jul 15, 2012 6:58 pm We've never renovated before so just want to make sure these colours go together. I'm pretty boring in my colour selections as I love warm, neutral tones, so this is what I've decided on for the kitchen: Wall colour - 1/2 strength hog bristle Bench top - Caesarstone cashmere Splash back - painted in full strength hog bristle Floor - hardwood tas oak Cabinets - polytec antique in Matt (thermo laminated) My other colour choice for cabinets was alabaster but I thought this looked a bit lighter than antique. Which would look better with wall colour? Re: Kitchen cabinets colour help please! 2Jul 17, 2012 6:30 pm Hi, your selection sounds good so far! Yes, alabaster has just a hint of cream, the antique seems to be warmer. I guess it depends on what you like as the tassie oak will lend plenty of warm colour anyway. What are you doing for your splashback? Is it going to be glass with the hog bristle behind? I'm thinking you might want to do something a bit different here.... ? Re: Kitchen cabinets colour help please! 3Jul 17, 2012 6:38 pm Forgot to add, I think eitherdoor colour would look good, best to get a sample pot and try both samples against it at different times of day. Re: Kitchen cabinets colour help please! 5Jul 18, 2012 7:34 pm It depends on how large your splashback is. But IMO: Cooler- the shimmery pearls or whites, opal flecks or pale green ( either the natural glass tint or green - really fresh and looks great with hogs bristle). Warmer- Cashmere, same as benchtop! This would look stunning too. You can go cooler or warmer with your Tassie oak. A general rule of thumb is, if your splashback is large go for lighter, i.e. shimmer or greens, as otherwise the darker colour can "close in" the room too much. If it's normal sized you are fine with darker colours. Go to this link for the pic of the cashmere splashback with cashmere benchtop, looks fabulous! \you...viewtopic.php?f=6&t=45775 PS just edited to say I LOVE the cashmere benchtop, can't afford it tho Re: Kitchen cabinets colour help please! 6Jul 23, 2012 6:52 pm Firstly OMFG, that house in the link is absolutely fantastic. Everything about it just stunning!! The cashmere benchtop looks gorgeous in the kitchen too. Actually our kitchen isn't massive but I'm trying to optimise all the space in there to be functional, so it will be standard size splasback. A pearl coloured splashback sounds great too. Might go check out colours. ETA: I think either Laminex diamondgloss in stipple hemp or stipple seal is a great alternative to cashmere Caesarstone. Thanks so much for your advice! Thanks so much for your advice! You're welcome, the pearl finish has depth and changes tones depending on the light... so you don't get bored And you can see examples of most of the others on here... I am not so sold on the opal fleck, it is a bit busy for me, but everyone is different. Yes, that certainly is a beautiful home on the link!! Love the colour use, as I am not into industrial at all... And You guessed it, I have already picked Stipple seal DiamondGloss for my kitchen benchtops....the other alternative I saw was essastone new sable luxe... Love the look. You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want. Cabinetmakers use MDF because its cheap… 2 9971 Thanks mate. Yeah good points! Leaning towards Option 3 to get a bit extra space in the cabinets but not going too crazy high (and expensive). Would require a mini… 13 39760 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7171 |
