Cheers Stig Re: mirror splashbacks 3Jul 08, 2012 6:39 am Hi I have one in my Butlers Pantry and find it very easy to clean. Hot water on a microfiber cloth leaves a streak free result. The glass is a special type, It wont crack. I have a "normal" glass window in my main kitchen behind the stove top (its about 10cm away from the window), and this is fine too. I have some pics here on my blog (scroll right down) http://inthewoodswithcaution.blogspot.c ... hotos.html If you want to make a small kitchen appear larger, than the mirrored splash back is great. Cheers Stig There is no difference between mirror splash backs and glass splash backs. Exactly the same product but with the mirror it has a refelective surface on the back instead of pait. All glass/mirror splash backs should be toughened. Toughened Mirror Splashbacks look particularly good in bronze and dark grey. You will also need some fire-retardant board behind the cooktop to a height of 300mm to comply also. With regard to cleaning, you can also use products like EnduroShield or Vitroglaze to seriously cut down on the cleaning/use of chemicals. Re: mirror splashbacks 7Sep 25, 2012 11:30 pm Hi Everyone, I realise that this is getting a bit old but I just had a brainwave. I'm wondering if I can get a mirror splashback in a bronzy sort of hue. I'm thinking glossy white cupboards with wild rice Caesar stone. Any thoughts? I'm also interested in any problems with them - cleaning? Unattractive reflections? (My glory days are almost gone and I don't want to be constantly reminded). I am absolutely loving your work - all contributors and your advice, both requested and lurked has been invaluable. My design is almost finished and I have a week before I have to settle on colours (longer for the splashback.) Also any photos? Particularly with a rangehood. We are trying to decide whether it will be too shiny with a stand alone rangehood. Re: mirror splashbacks 12Apr 09, 2013 1:49 pm We have had 2 quotes for mirrored splashbacks and they each use different products. We are after the 'bronze' type mirror. The first quote uses 6mm toughened glass stopsol dark mirror style splashback - $2068 inc The second quote uses a "skyway mirror" - $2464. Does anyone know what the difference between them is - other than the cost? Thanks! |
