Got a quote at pre-start for inbuilt garbage draw for the island bench and it's $680.
Is there any other way around it?

Maybe you could get it installed afterwards if you made it a cupboard. Would it be cheeky to ask your builder who does their cabinetry and then speak to them about it quietly? Or you can just get a deep sided drawer and mount it to the front door and put some bins inside. Mine was a standard 60cm cupboard but i converted it into a bin drawer with an Ikea drawer (from Blum anyway) and put some bins inside. To make the bins not to move around I secured them with some drawer dividers. I put a shelf to act as a lid and a pull out basket for paper. The whole internal set up cost me under $100. They have prices on the site: http://www.hideawaybins.com.au Re: Garbage Draw In The Kitchen 8Jun 14, 2012 10:39 am I have made a few changes with our kitchen and have gone straight to the kitchen maker which the builder is okay with. They quoted me $368 for a Hefele slide out bin to attach to my door front, it has 2 large bins, however it is only $80 extra to have a melamine box made on sliding rails so I can place my own bins in, my Mum just had this done and has the Hefele bins inside the box and works well, I am going to try and find tall bins so it takes up the majority of the cupboards. Maybe ask them to not hinge door and do it yourself. I looked around at some websites and it looks like garbage tray is actually cost around $300, then we also asked for laundry draw and that one was around $250, so if you add them together then $600 mark is what is expected to pay. It's just our sales rep said that it will cost us about $100 for it... sales reps they know everything... don't they? I would go directly to the cabinet maker and get a price to changed these or source the items and supply them to be installed. I have found a bin on ebay that attaches to the door panel and has 2 x 35 litre bins for about $80, just don't know how good the slide out bit is, probably not as good as the expensive brands but big difference. Have a look http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/251072592203 ... 018wt_1165 I don't think a wire laundry basket should cost much, I had a look at these before at the cabinet makers and pretty simple, wire basket attached to slide on melamine board. Just found this for idea on price. http://www.nikpol.com.au/storage/wirewa ... y-bathroom No. It's not original. Circa early to mid 90s would be my guess and maybe even as late as early 2000s 1 6626 2 4669 |
