Hi,
I am about to bite the bullet and get the kitchen started. After three quotes from dedicated kitchen companies, I sought another from a recommended cabinetmaker. The cabinetmaker was the cheapest, but more importantly, understood what I was trying to achieve. Which is: I have a 3200 x 2800 u-shaped room. Unfortunately, the large double-windows not only take up a good percentage of one of the 3200 walls, but they start at only 200mm from the left side of that wall. I considered a u-shaped design, but as the sink (not in picture, but starting halfway along the left window) would have to move much closer to the fridge, losing benchspace, and I really don't like corner pantries, I have opted for a galley. What I am losing in cupboard/bench/wall cupboard space compared to the significant increase in price is really not worth it. as it stands, I will have about 1300 open benchspace to the left of the cooktop, and about 600 to the left of the sink, with about 700 between the sink and the fridge. The fridge will be boxed in with cupboards above. There will be a microwave opening near the cooktop/underbench oven side, and drawers on the sink side which will accomodate a dishwasher, which I have no use for at this point. The oven side will have 2300 of continuous wall cupboards, including inset range. to give an idea of scale, the fridge and pantry will be 800 wide.

I can't come up with a better galley configuration, without either compromising 1 1/2 decent open workspaces, or making the room look boxed in at the opening.
I would very much appreciate feedback regarding possible re-configurations of this design.
My other dilemma is that the ceilings are 2600 high. I am looking at a 500 high bulkhead with 600 wall cabinets. 800 cabinets are an option, but again, I'm not fond of the look.
Cheers im advance.
