Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Technika 11Mar 13, 2008 3:51 pm We have a Technika oven included in a package from Simonds in 2001 found it didnt cook very well and the internal light failed and eventually we didnt bother replacing globe. Have found also with the cooktop that if any fluid spills the electronic ignition for the gas keeps clicking so have to turn power off to it until it has dried out. Waiting for block Heritage Springs Re: opinions on TECHNIKA APPLIANCES? 12Mar 13, 2008 7:11 pm Adrian B Shady but it was just a regulator problem but our neighbours had the same problem with theirs. Oh and the fan in the oven rattles. Shady, what was the symptoms you were experiencing? When we went to turn the gas hot plate on we would stand there pushing the knob waiting for the gas to ignite but no gas was coming out. Somtimes it took a good 2-3 minutes of standing there waiting for it to ignite. Apparently it's a fault in the regulator. We called them and someone came to check it within a week. We were told it would take a few weeks to order that part and then they'd come back and fix it. 3 weeks later they did and all is well. The same thing happened to our neighbour and it seems MattWalker ha dthe same problem above. It was just an inconvienance. and something that really shouldnt have happened to a new appliance but to their credit it wasnt an issue for them to fix. Re: opinions on TECHNIKA APPLIANCES? 14Mar 14, 2008 8:28 am They are cheap builders appliances. I'm sure the builders get big discounts when buying wholesale and I bet when the builder give you a credit he still keeps his margin in.
The hot plates work, the oven heats up, tells the time and it seems that they are happy to fix any problems. I do like playing in the kitchen and appreciate good quality appliances but I just couldnt justify spending the extra $4k-$5k on a better setup. Re: opinions on TECHNIKA APPLIANCES? 16Mar 14, 2008 2:26 pm Personally don't like any builder's cooking appliances - our last home had a Chef oven which stuffed up within 12mths - grill totally refused to work. This time our builder uses Blanco which although are good his specs are the lower end of the market of Blanco. So luckily this week we went and bought our own from a closing down sale.
Woohoo got my dream Falcon cooker along with hood and splashback as well as a Franke sink (plus an Abey sink just in case I don't like the Franke one LOL) and two F&P fridges. Whose a lucky girl - ME!!!!! thanks 17Mar 15, 2008 8:58 am thanks to everyone for the replies! i actually thought that the appliances that builders give us were top quality, but i was wrong!

Just had the independant repair technician out. The reguator issue is a common one, seems that there was a bad batch. he said he replaced about 200 so far. Also mentioned that they used the wront teflon tape on the install, which is a little annoying. Regarding the Oven rattling, It is an instalation fault which is easily fixed. He simply put a rubber matt somewhere on the back of the unit which stopped the pipe from vibrating against something else. He said that they are a very good unit, and that apart from installation issues and the regulator, he hasnt had a huge number of issues with them. Very good service from Technika and the plumber.
