Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: CAESAR STONE OR GRANITE?? 3Mar 12, 2008 5:28 pm Andrew, we had Granite in our last place and loved it to bits...no worrying about the heat of pan or anything....in our new place we will have Caeserstone and we've been told that we need to be mindful of what we place on the benches etc...so maybe C/S it's a little more delicate???
If i had the choice and money was not a constraint...then Granite it would be. Re: CAESAR STONE OR GRANITE?? 5Mar 12, 2008 5:52 pm Hi Andrew,
We also had granite in our last place, the best thing we put in our house( we didnt go through the builder but through our own stone mason, wanted a quality job done). We are looking at essa stone at the moment only because it seems to be the 'in thing'...the uniform look of engineered stone. However, we are still going for marble in the bathrooms. It all depends on the look you are after, I still love granite but cant quite find the colour I need for my kitchen. Mrs B Re: CAESAR STONE OR GRANITE?? 6Mar 12, 2008 8:00 pm Caesarstone for me! It's included in the kitchen and we will upgrade to have it in the bathrooms as well.
I have never used granite...grew up with laminex, so I can't wait for my Caesarstone! For those that have had granite, how often did it require sealing to help protect against stains? I guess the one good thing about C/S is it is not porous and doesn't require sealing, like Phoenix, I have also read it is not terribly tolerant of heat and certain chemicals as well. But being used to Laminex, I shouldn't have a problem Good luck making a choice, Andrew! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! From what I've read granite and Ceasar both have their advantages/disadvantages. It seems "engineered stones" require less maintenance. Re: CAESAR STONE OR GRANITE?? 8Mar 12, 2008 8:36 pm Apparently we are not going for Essa Stone as Mr B just informed me( as he told me to get out of his way because he was trying to watch soccer on the telly) Mr B said its boring and like the bench tops in a kentucky fried chicken shop.
Who cares, I will do what I want to do...I know best Mrs B Re: CAESAR STONE OR GRANITE?? 9Mar 12, 2008 8:44 pm WHAT WERE YOU DOING IN HIS WAY????
MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH Now you have to have Laminate benchtops....its your own fault. IMO - Caeserstone is awesome. I love mine. Re: CAESAR STONE OR GRANITE?? 10Mar 12, 2008 8:55 pm I have to say that in the 6 years that we had granite in our kitchen, bathroom and ensuite of our old house, we did not have to seal it once....
The stonemason applied a sealer that was supposed to last 10 years before requiring re-application. Our granite withstood everything that my family could dish out.... Andrew, at the end of the day it is what finish/look you prefer in your kitchen....and what you can afford too, i suppose!!! The price difference is significant!!! Also looks like the tables in McDonalds, and those partitions in some public toilet cubicals to me. Re: CAESAR STONE OR GRANITE?? 14Mar 14, 2008 4:05 pm A matter of personal preference, I'd say. One thing though......
If you choose an engineered stone surface like C/S, you pretty much know what you are going to get. However, if you go with granite, you will need to be carefully involved in the selection process, as every piece of granite will have its own individual characteristics, features, fissures etc. Deal direct with suppliers! I guess price won't lie , most of the time anyway. Start: 15 May 08, Current: Handover inspection 19/09 after that, the house is ours!!
