Of course, you onlyneed to spend more moneyon starfire glass if you want a white splashback. Otherwise, jsut look at your proposed colour through normal glass and adjust accordingly.
One day, someone will make a lot of money out adjusting paint colour by subtracting the right amount of green so that it appears the same as if starfire glass is used. Why paint starfire glass when you can make an adjustment to the paint. Of course, white and some other very light colours will not work.

The engineering is the engineering. It's irrelevant how much material you have. Unless it fits the requirements of your design the engineer can't "make"it work.
