Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 30, 2012 1:03 pm Hi all, we are having a new kitchen installed in three weeks (yay!) and our tradesman has asked us to choose the colour of the cabinets. All of the walls in our house are Dulux Whisper White and I assumed that we would just paint the cabinets the same colour (we’re ‘white’ people). A few people though have said that we might want a bit of a contrast but my issue with choosing a different shade of white is that it might make the walls look cream in comparison – or vice versa? I’d love to hear from anyone who has white walls with a white kitchen and how you went about this decision. Thanks! It is almost impossible to match whites but I agree that the contrast may make the walls look cream or vice versa unless you get the colour exactly correct. The different materials is contrast in itself. As I said, just my opinion and I am certainly no colour guru. Some people on here are fantastic with colour. Good luck! Rocketship that's a really good point you make re: the materials being contrast enough. We've given it some more thought and have definitely decided to keep the same colour. Here's hoping we've made the right decision! Re: If you have a white kitchen with white walls...please he 5May 02, 2012 10:16 pm In the last week I have seen 2 kitchens where the walls were whisper white low sheen, trims in whisper white semi gloss and cabinet work in a 60% 2 pack in whisper white and it looked great. Even though it was the same colour there was some contrast. The first kitchen broke the white up by having a stainless steel splashback and benchtop. The second kitchen had an offwhite polished concrete benchtop and a window for a splashback. If you have a white kitchen with white walls...please help! 6May 03, 2012 2:30 pm Our walls are solver slightly and our kitchen is polar white with stipple seal bench top and our splash back is white tiles. I love it, I was a little worried it would look too wishy washy but the white looks great.
