Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Mar 28, 2012 10:00 pm Hello, I'm building with Wisdom. So far I'm at frame stage. Have a few questions to those of you who have more experience in building house. Do I need to question the SS regarding these stuff : Slab was crushed slightly when the excavator went inside our backyard to install the watertank : Photo before and after the frame's up : http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd444/willcress/002.jpg http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd444/willcress/014.jpg Also, the plumbing pipes that connecting our rainwater tank and sewerage have been installed too high... Is this common and acceptable? Because that means I'll have lots of soil to cover it and also high retaining wall... http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd444/willcress/022.jpg Thank you for your comments, guys... Re: Do I need to worry about these stuff during construction 2Mar 28, 2012 11:34 pm All standard. That slab chip isnt an issue. Tall pipes make it easier to see so they dont get damaged. They're cut to size when they're ready to be used. Appreciate it! Re: Do I need to worry about these stuff during construction 4Mar 29, 2012 10:28 am ... and it doesn't hurt to ask the SS if you have any questions ... For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Do I need to worry about these stuff during construction 5Mar 29, 2012 11:00 am I have, Mclaren, he still hasn't replied yet.... Maybe he thought , it will be fixed at the end ??? Re: Do I need to worry about these stuff during construction 6Mar 31, 2012 9:22 pm Hi Willcres, I have the same issue. It's not a problem SS said and you know who that is He messed up our building to some extent. We are thinking of getting am external certifier involved if they do not address those. My lawyer friend said we can even recover the expenses of the certifier from the builder if we inform Wisodm by writing that they are not paying attention to the mistake and that is the reason I had to hire an external certifier. Re: Do I need to worry about these stuff during construction 7Apr 21, 2012 1:01 am Hello all, There are some faults with the plumbing here and I have to post these photos since I'm not sure whether these are acceptable or not : Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd444/willcress/007-1.jpg http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd444/willcress/008.jpg Please advise, thanks a lot!! Re: Do I need to worry about these stuff during construction 8Apr 21, 2012 1:05 am Which area of your house is the first picture? Maybe the kitchen? Two pipes being cold/hot water going to your island bench? The others i wouldnt be too worried about. Bit of hack job but not detrimental to the integrity of the framing. Hi adgn, Yes, the first pic is in the kitchen for hot & cold water. Spot on! What do u think then ? Re: Do I need to worry about these stuff during construction 10Apr 21, 2012 1:30 am Well im no engineer but i wouldn't imagine theres any problem. A small cutout on a non load bearing part of the frame would be fine to me. In your first pic I can't see right of the stud, but just check if there is a concrete pin there. If not i'd ask one be put there just to stop that bit of wall from maybe moving when the brickies nail there ties on. Part from that no problem. Re: Do I need to worry about these stuff during construction 12Apr 21, 2012 2:29 pm No problems doing that to the framing at all. Dont give it another thought!
