What is a good mid range Oven / Cooktop brand? Is Bosch / Electrolux the way to go?
Is Miele worth the extra money?
Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: Cooktop / Oven 2Mar 17, 2012 10:17 am I have just had electrolux EUEE63CS oven and EHD68210P induction cooktop installed in my recently reno'ed kitchen 4 weeks ago and am extremely happy with both. And DH manages to operate them no probs. Sue Re: Cooktop / Oven 3Mar 17, 2012 5:31 pm From most that I have spoken to Miele are the best in the midrange ovens. We are buying one very shortly. There is nothing wrong with the others at all, just those I have spoken to consider them better overall. With young kids around we also decided to get a unit that has additional safety features like all knobs on the side and flame failure safety device. We selected the Delonghi DEGH90WF which comes with the safety features and a long fish burner which is a bonus for us. In terms of an oven, IMO I think the features to consider are - internal width and depth of oven cavity. (ie. does your large roasting pan/lasagne tray/baking tray fit inside the oven?) - thermostat accuracy/display - how can you set the temp? How accurate is it? (some go up in 5 degree increments with a digital display, others are a turn knob with markers every 30 degrees or so) - safety (do you want a door with double, triple or quadruple glazing? child lock?) - telescopic rails (makes it easier to put things in and take things out of the oven) - oven self-cleaning functionality? (ie. pyrolytic, steam clean, catalytic, etc) To be honest, I just want an oven with normal bake, fan forced and grill. I don't need 14 cooking functions when I know I'm really only going to use 3. At this point, our selection for oven is the 60cm Electrolux Electric Wall Oven EOEE62CS. In terms of your stove top, it depends on what type you want for starters. Gas, electric ceramic or induction ceramic? We've decided to go with a electric ceramic, although we were tempted to do induction. At this point, our selection is the Omega Electric Cooktop OC95TXA - it has 5 cooking circles, three of which be altered to suit pot size. It suits our needs. 2010, June : Land bought (1700sqm, battleaxe block). That's it so far! We're in the design phase .... My daughter and son in law are about to start building, they are having a 600mm induction cook top and 900mm oven.
