Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 29, 2008 8:49 pm Hi again
I am trying to get ready for my appointment with big M, and wanted to have some colour selections ready for quotes etc// I love a white kitchen! At the moment I am ken on Nova Aurora caesarstone as a benchtop and I would like to have some white cupboards, problem is I haven't seen such a colour combination and am wondering if it would be' TOO' white? Would people be able to throw some names of white laminex cupboards at me or alternatively a VERY light grey/brown that would go with my chosen benchtop.. Also (not to be too greedy!!) but any ideas of a splashback colour? I'm thinking a latte/light grey/light brown colour? Thoughts?? Belinda Re: White kitchen 2Feb 29, 2008 8:58 pm Hi Haygwl,
I found these photos of white kitchens Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The bench top colour is BLIZZARD A white kitchen can look stunning if done right. What are you having on your floor? Paula Re: White kitchen 3Feb 29, 2008 9:50 pm Paula, fantastic pictures of top end kitchens. The second kitchen will go into my ideas file. The kitchen bench is certainly a statement by itself. Although they are both white, each have the wow factor because the designers have used different products/surfaces in the same colour. I love the white marble in the 2nd pic, very tempted to have it in my kitchen but on a smaller scale.
Bring on more pics I say Mrs B Re: White kitchen 4Feb 29, 2008 9:57 pm hey im having Nova Aurora with polar white satin 2 pac cupboards
its actually the only thing I reasonably confident about in my house LOL I think white kitchens are very nice!! splashback - I was told to pick out a colour in the nova aurora sounds like your on the right track there already Re: White kitchen 5Feb 29, 2008 10:01 pm nova aurora looks lovely laid
Ive seen it in a house, gorgeous I think phoenix also is having it but with moleskin (also a really really nice colour but not white) and a third colour, hope thats right P. third colours was way too hard for me almost did marble with it (seen another pic which looks awesome - the marble with grey streaks in it) but it was all too hard and scary for me in the end! Re: White kitchen 6Mar 01, 2008 8:01 am Thanks guys!!
Yep I'm sold - those pics prove you can never have too much white! Bec - Oh I was thinking of polar white! You will have to show me pics when it is done! I adrore the Nova Aurora that I have seen on the internet pics so can't wait to see it in real life! That's a great advice to choose a splashback colour based on the benchtop 'fleck' colours - love it!! Your kitchen sounds gorgeous!! Paula - Great pics! Thank-you! Love the first one - the second has a bit too much silver for my liking, the handles look very similar to something I'd like too....I think my kitchen is going to blow my budget Thanks again! Belinda Re: White kitchen 7Mar 01, 2008 8:19 am White kitchens are stunning and they never date!!!
That top photo is one of the nicest kitchens I have seen in a long time….that’s right up my design scope for my home! I want it……!!!!!!!!! So many colour selections!! Re: White kitchen 9Mar 01, 2008 8:29 am The only thing I don't like about the first picture is there is no colour in the room. Everyting is white, not just the kitchen.
2nd picture. Too much stainless steel. The lights under/in(?) the bench looks interesting but what purpose does it serve?. Kitchens need a bit of colour to add some life....this place looks like you're going to ID a dead body at the morgue. Re: White kitchen 10Mar 01, 2008 8:32 am I agree with you Dan - as much as I love white sometimes it can be too much..
this is why I plan to break it up with the splashback and also my walls will not be white, I like Wattyl's 'Scallopine' or equivelent (which I stole from Rellie ) Also I plan to use colour with some flowers, vases, pictures etc to break up the room I hope it sounds ok!! Re: White kitchen 11Mar 01, 2008 8:32 am Timber floor will look beautiful with all that white!
I like Tassy Oak ….but I guess this is your decision. It also depends on how much natural light comes into the room, through the day. Also…. darker the timber, the darker you make the room at night. I like Tassie Oak too - we don't plan on starting building until mid year but I want to have all my selections pretty much chosen b4 then to make the whole process easier Bec - sounds devine You have all helped heaps with my kitchen selections..Thank-you!! Onto bathroom colours now ... Re: White kitchen 14Mar 01, 2008 12:18 pm Also like the all white look. Although the first pic has a beautiful mirror that reflects some black into the room. Not sure if I would like it as much if it were just plain white.
We had all white cupboards in our last house but with black slate floors (and jarrah flooring in the adjacent room). Looked good and easy on the eye. Re: White kitchen 15Mar 01, 2008 2:08 pm Re: White kitchen 17Mar 01, 2008 4:12 pm Mrs B Here is another white kitchen, house is for sale. Again, way too much white. The only stuff of colour is the plants (not including the floor)....even the artwork on the wall is part white. I imagine the types who buy this place either have no personality or like to lock themselves away from the world. Let's hope you never practice psychiatry or we're all in danger of being sectioned. To me that kitchen looks bright, sunny, clean and happy. If you haven't already realised...... in this forum, everyone has different tastes and you need to probably refrain from being so critical of other members and their choices/selections. It just stirs up trouble. Try putting a positive spin on your comments....your posts tend to lean towards the negative sometimes???? I actually like the kitchen...probably would have gone for black dining chairs instead of the white, but love some of the features of the room. The wall cut outs, the use of natural light, the varying ceiling heights and the feeling of space throughout. Re: White kitchen 20Mar 01, 2008 5:09 pm We are building at the moment and have chosen a white kitchen. I really like that white kitchens give a classic feel that don't date to quickly. My only worry is whether I'll be able to keep it clean with 3 young kids!
We chose the following options and with floorboards hope this will give a nice flowing feel to the living areas with plenty of light. bench top - Osprey caesarstone Cupboards - Polar white Kickboard - Zincworks Splashback - Silk Mocha tiles cheers Trina http://carinyawest.blogspot.com/ Looking for advice on whether this variation in tile colour is acceptable.
