Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: Anyone with Franke Undermount Sinks? 9Mar 08, 2012 2:29 pm HB_ Pink Tulips The Peak is really gorgeous sink! Did you go for the single bowl option too? Yes, got the same bowl size as you are looking at PKX 110-70 http://www.franke.com/kitchensystems/au ... etail.html Rationale is that most of our dishes are washed in the dishwasher so a dual bowl is not so necessary. The large size will be great for the pots and pans. Also less likely to chip the sides of the stone as common in small undermount sinks. We do however have a second smaller sink in the island bench. The Peak bowl is not as deep as the Planar8 - 180mm vs 200 mm (plus the thickness of your bench as it is undermount). From memory the Planar is not insulated (coated under the basin) but the Peak is. On RRP, just checked and it is $470 more though. Whats the difference between Planar8 and Planar? The double bowl Peak was astronomically expensive. We got down to the planar8 ($1029) and kubus large bowl ($1099) as that was pretty much the max we wanted to spend! As for the double bowl vs single bowl conundrum, your rational is exactly what we thought ie large size makes it easier for oven trays/large pots/pans & less likely to chip... but then "everyone" has been talking us out of it with advice such as a 2 bowl option is better if we were to wash hands etc.... Have had stone benches with undermount sink (kitchen) and drop-in (laundry) and top-mounted basin (bathrooms) for coming up 13 years and not one chip/scratch of any kind.… 2 9676 Hi, We're building a double-storey in Perth and I'm undecided with the kitchen sink situation.
