Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Mar 01, 2012 3:46 pm Hi All, I have recently bought my first home (freestanding villa) in Perth! Very exciting stuff and the first job I want to do is to replace the kitchen. I have no experience with renovations so looking for any advice about whether I should get a designer to help, to get custom made cabinets, go to ikea and get help with the install etc. I'm looking to spend around $15000-$20000 on it. There's wood flooring throughout the house so I won't need to change any of that however the cupboards are from the 70s and falling apart, there's no pantry (I'd like one), no dishwasher space (again I'd like one), there is a gas hot water system in the house so gas is an option for a cooktop... It's a U-shaped kitchen with two sides being approx. 3m and the short side (against the outside wall, where the sink is) is approx. 1.5m across. I don't take possession until April so don't have any specific measurements yet but any advice on what I should be doing now would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Re: Kitchen Design/Renovation Advice Perth 2Mar 01, 2012 7:32 pm You dont need a designer to design cabinets! Most cabinet makers will be able to do just as good a job with a design at half the price and then they can build it for you too!
