Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Mar 01, 2012 8:30 am I paid tons of gold for this flush mounted kitchen sink, the builder initially put it as inset as they'd never seen a flush mounted sink until I got a kitchen guy to show them what a flush mounted sink looks like. So the old one out and the new one in, the problem is, the sink isn't quite flush with the bench top, it actually sits a little bit below the surface thus create a very sharp yet very rough edge in some area, if I run my finger along it, it can cut my finger easily. (see pic) Getting the builder back to do it again is out of question, they will only make it worse, also I'm in the process of taking them to VCAT for many other major issues of the house. My question is, what can be done to fix it other than replacing the bench top? I'm happy to pay to fix it. If its laminate I doubt you'll get a better fit. Laminate doesn't like to form around edges that have small radius' and it would require a lot of work to get right. Likely at your cost. Re: Flush mounted kitchen sink not really flush, what can we 3Mar 01, 2012 12:19 pm Its stone. As chrisandkate said have an arris put onto the sharp edge. The sink will have to come out to do this but it will make it much better. Yes it is stone. Another question, is this a stone mason's job or I need the plumber as well to remove the sink? Another question, is this a stone mason's job or I need the plumber as well to remove the sink? Technically you need a plumber but most stone masons should be able to disconect the waste pipe. The tap doesnt need to be disconected which makes it an much easier job!
