Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 27, 2012 4:09 pm I have been getting quotes for stone in my kitchen reno's. I have got quotes anywhere between $3500 (for cash only) and $5400. I was hoping to spend less then $3000 but I dont know if I was being unrealistic. I have PDF plans but i dont know how to post them. I dont think my kitchen is big by any means its an L shape with a smallish island. The island has waterfall edges and the stone will be 20mm with 40mm joined edges. So am i being unrealistic or are these quotes about right? Re: Stone Benchtop Quotes - expensive or no?!? 3Feb 27, 2012 4:38 pm FYI to post images, you need to upload them to a site like photobucket and then include a link to it in your post - it's a pain. I just noticed that you're having an island with two waterfalls - each waterfall will cost around $500, so it's starting to make sense of the figures you've been quoting. My kitchen has about 5.5 square meters of bench, including one waterfall on a peninsula, 40mm laminated edging, mitred on the waterfall and cost about $3500. It's EssaStone, which was about $400 pricier than the standard Caesarstone colours. Where abouts are you? Re: Stone Benchtop Quotes - expensive or no?!? 5Feb 28, 2012 3:34 pm I am on the Gold Coast. There is 5.66m2 of benchtop including waterfall edges. Would love you to have a look - send me your email and Iwill foward you plans. Re: Stone Benchtop Quotes - expensive or no?!? 6Feb 28, 2012 10:24 pm I'd say you're being screwed at $5400. Although this might depend on who's making the substrate. If the stonemasons are doing it this might be reasonable. My cabinetmaker made mine for me. Re: Stone Benchtop Quotes - expensive or no?!? 7Feb 29, 2012 6:33 am Yep, $5400 sounds expensive. It is very hard to tell without seeing the plans though. Waterfalls add alot of money to the price unfortunately. There is alot of stone and labour required for them if done properly. I understand that the outside edge needs to be polished, but what can I expect from the rest of the edging? Re: Stone Benchtop Quotes - expensive or no?!? 9Feb 29, 2012 4:23 pm katsanis@optusnet.com.au Most stonemasons quote on lineal metre. Also people need to keep in mind, whether you are using a quarter of a slab or a full slab you are generally paying for the entire slab. Email me and I'll give you an estimate of what I believe it should be, but I'm not sure what the general pricing structure in QLD is. Also what stone where you wanting to use?
