Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 21, 2012 6:53 pm Hi, I am trying to decide on the Kitchen colour selection for a new home. I like the clean white on white look (White cupboards on a white stone bench top). We have selected a 30mm caesar stone benchtop in nougat colour: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ My question is, In all of the pictures I have seen people have matched shiney white "vinyl rap" cupboards against this stone top. Would the white on white design still work with a Matt white Laminex cupboard? The vinyl cupboards are out of our budget. The only other option is to upgrade the Laminex to a shiny laminex (not nearly as shiny as the vinyl rap). Is it worth the extra money or can I get away with the builders standard white Laminex range for this style to work? Thanks for your input! -Chris Re: White cupboards on white top - Does it work without shin 2Feb 21, 2012 7:46 pm Hi Chris Love the colour of the stone you chose! Have you asked your builder if it's extra to have the silk finish laminate instead of the matte? I ask because I thought it would be extra and then found out from our builder that there wasn't an additional charge for silk finish. We are having essa stone sorbet with white silk laminate. SORBET If you can't have silk for free, I still think that matte white will look great:) Can't go wrong with that combo! It looks great and we mainly chose the satin over the gloss as we are have a two tone kitchen with some cupboards being a timber veneer. Re: White cupboards on white top - Does it work without shin 4Feb 25, 2012 9:28 pm If you possibly can, try to stretch your budget to get one of the glossy/silk/sheen (different names that you might encounter from different suppliers) white melamine colours. Yes, they're not as glossy as the Gloss Vinylwrap, but these look beautiful with a matching 1mm PVC edge tape. Easy to look after, more heat resistant than Vinyl and they don't look like a "budget" option. Really great choice and shouldn't be a lot dearer than the standard white laminate. Re: White cupboards on white top - Does it work without shin 5Mar 28, 2012 8:45 pm In my current kitchen the cupboards are matt white with a white caesarstone bench, it looks clean and modern. Doesn't look cheap at all! I am building and will be doing the same matt look in the kitchen except with a Haffaele Infinity benchtop in Alabaster. Re: White cupboards on white top - Does it work without shin 6Mar 29, 2012 7:13 am I wanted 2pac in my new kitchen but the kitchen company wanted an extra $3,400. Ended up using Polytec Melamine Classis White Sheen at a cost of $865 with CS Ice Snow. We are happy with result, think they look very modern and would certainly use again.
