Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 22, 2008 10:09 pm Hi,
This forum is amazing! I really, really wish I had discovered it a week ago, prior to signing up for our kitchen! There are some things we need to work out that I'm having trouble with, and hope I can get some advice! Our kitchen is quite small - 2.7m x 3.0m. It also has an entrance in both of the shorter sides. At the moment one of the entrances is almost in the corner, so there is an L-shape bench in the opposite corner. The shorter edge of the L has a 1.5 sink with drainer (see "kitchen old.gif"). There is also a raised servery that blocked the view of the sink from the dining area. As that entrance has caused the bench on that side to taper to unusable space, we're changing that entrance so we have full-depth cupboards and bench along that length. This means the L-shape must be shortened. The new layout will have 650mm (+ 600mm bench depth) to play with for a sink. We are also dispensing with the servery, and having it single height right through. We are in a quandary about the sink. We had wanted undermount sinks, but can't seem to find a suitable layout. Two sinks at 90 degrees would encroach into the already-small bench space next to and above the dishwasher, which will be our largest bench area. Two sinks in the short edge of the L may be too ugly, and I was thinking splashes from the left one would go on the floor. We had also talked about just having a single sink only, and no drainer, but are scared that might be too limiting, as well as off-putting from a resale perspective. Another option we discussed was a 1.5, no drainer, with the .5 towards into the corner, or 1.5 + drainer with the drainer right in the corner, but have thought that might look too weird. We've been considering the Clark corner sink as a what-the-heck option. The Clark would mean the drainer is visible from the family room, although we're going to see one on the weekend that has been undermounted (though I imagine it would make that area less multipurpose). We'd love any other ideas! Thanks very much. We may go drop-in anyway though, as the drainer would be more flush with the surrounding bench than when undermounted.
I'm finding the Clark is outrageously expensive though! Maybe i's my cheap side coming through, but when you can buy two Olivieri sinks with accessories for around 2/3 the cost of a corner sink with no accessories, something's wrong! Corner sink suppliers 3Mar 12, 2009 5:20 pm How did you go with the sink? I'm having trouble finding corner sink suppliers apart from Franke and Clark - have you found any others? 4 14289 Dear all, Requesting your help in relation to a CDC code.
