Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 06, 2012 1:01 pm Okay so I haven't slept in the last few nights trying to decide on our kitchen color scheme and thought it was time to post on here and beg for some help... This is our second build in qld (would of thought it was easier second time round picking colours right but no such luck!) and hopefully our last for a very long time. Which is why I feel so compelled to get the colors right and so they won't date. So here goes: Bench tops - ceaserstone osprey (love it) with waterfall edge Cupboards - parchment laminate Back of island bench - Peruvian clay laminate or something else brown... Splash back - tile that matches Peruvian clay? Or Bench tops - ceaserstone osprey with waterfall edge Cupboards - all moleskin laminate Splash back - white / off white tile Our floor is to be tiled in a very light beige? gloss that matches the tone of the moleskin. Walls will probably be design white? We have a window in the kitchen looking out to the patio so no direct sunlight. Our furniture is dark mahogny timbers / Balinese style and our lounge suits are varying shades of brown. The kitchen is open plan to the family and dining room. I am concerned that the parchment laminate and the osprey bench top will all blend in and look non descript but like the simple neutral look. I want something that will last the test of time and 2 small children too. I have a picture of our kitchen plan on my phone but have no idea how to get it on here. Any help or suggestions that anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated! Re: Kitchen colors to match osprey bench tops 2Feb 06, 2012 1:45 pm It doesn't get any easier fourth or fifth time around either! Most of the kitchens I've seen with Osprey have white or off white cabinets. Looks lovely and not sterile. A versitle combination that suits all decors. Love Osprey! Sad to know it doesn't get any easier the more times you do it! Thanks deb your kitchen looks amazing. I am starting to think the moleskin would look better after seeing yours. Parchment would probably look to yellow? Well footings are being done tomorrow so I guess I better hurry and make my mind up.. Re: Kitchen colors to match osprey bench tops 5Feb 06, 2012 10:05 pm Very difficult with those little samples - I had every colour sample of Whites, Parchment, Beige, Moleskin etc...thru to Pumice imaginable and was convinced I wanted Pumice until I visited a cabinetmaker who showed me a larger piece....it was too yellow with the Cracked Pepper. Moleskin was an excellent choice for my colour palette without being too stark. I also found visiting Caesarstone to see a wall size slab with cabinet samples was excellent. Again, Good Luck and go with your instinct. Kitchen colours look great and I love your water feature. Thank you Bankgirl - We've owned a number of homes and like you said 'selections don't get any easier'. This is our preparation for retirement home 'just the two of us'. Apart from front planterbox bricklaying and driveway we've done it ourselves; we're getting too old to keep doing landscaping. So looking forward to just maintaining. Pleased you liked the Water Feature - we are thrilled, gives a beautiful ambience at night. About to begin planting rear garden beds, I will update the Blog with progress. Secondtime - keep us informed on your selections.
