Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 05, 2012 1:27 pm Upon colour selections for our new home we were very happy with what we chose! Originally was new basmati bench top, velveteen gloss cabinets and a beautiful 600x300 gloss tile for splashback We were then told we couldn't have velveteen for cupboards as it is for benchtops so we had to amend our selection So we still wanted the brownish colour so went for Formica fini chocolate high gloss and then changed the benchtops to essastone new Cairo We kept with the splashback tiles as these seemed to match nicely Here's the problem, cabinets and benchtops have been installed and look positively stunning, however the cabinets almost look purple and I think the splashback tiles clash These tiles were an extra cost to us and we can't really afford to not use them but I'm worried it will look dicky Any ideas much appreciated Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It's really to tell the difference in the light but tile is more brown, cabinet is more browny purple, benchtops match both beautifully however don't match each other Eventually we will have above head cupboards in surf mist Building our own custom design with Redink Pre-start - 28/06/2011 Building license approval - sept 2011 Footings - 8/10/2011 my thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=48921 Splash back help needed 2Feb 05, 2012 4:34 pm
These tiles were an extra cost to us and we can't really afford to not use them but I'm worried it will look dicky
That comment literally made me LOL! Definitely something I would say but don't hear often. Not much help re:your color dilemma is it? Sorry. I think you need one of the color experts on the job. Any chance you could take another photo (like the first on with just the cabinets), with a tile in the same photo? The photos seem to be in different lights, therefore it's difficult to make a judgement. Without further information though, I think that because the tiles are separated from the cabinets by the benchtop, you will be ok. The light makes all the difference though. Ahhh, First World problems! Lucky really, aren't we?!
