Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 02, 2012 3:17 pm Hi guys, We have been in our new house for about 6 weeks now, and have been having a few issues with the oven leaking 'steam' into the cabinetry.. we have drawers either side of the oven and whenever I cook with the oven, the drawers and contents get damp from steam. It also seems to have a 'seal' issue at the front of the stove door that leaks a small amount of steam out the front. Is this normal?? Is there supposed to be additional ventilation around the oven that is missing, or is the oven faulty? its really concerning me that the laminex is getting damaged. Thanks in advance for any replies Building Beechwood Genesis Muscat (modified) Contract signed- April 19 Benching done- May 19 Piering done- June 27 Slab Plumbing- July 1st Slab poured- July 6th Frame finished- August 11 Re: Issues with steam from Oven getting in cabinetry? 2Feb 02, 2012 4:03 pm Most ovens vent hot air out the front but not steam. It sounds like there might be an oven door seal issue. I would call the company that supplied the oven and tell them the problems and ask to have a service man look at it. Its mostly when I have it at a high temperature, but it certainly is an issue. everything in the drawers is wet. not just a little damp, but I have to mop up water with a tea towel! I use my oven a lot and it would make me think twice about using it. Re: Issues with steam from Oven getting in cabinetry? 6Feb 06, 2012 10:39 am Yup. I've just lodged a complaint with the builder.
