Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: Movement of Drawers 2Feb 18, 2008 5:51 pm I'm pretty sure you can install soft-closers to any kitchen drawer or cupboard
My parents bought a whole box from a Blum distributor and installed them afterwards After 4 years - we're in! Re: Movement of Drawers 4Feb 19, 2008 8:59 am The softclose dampers available aftermarket for doors are not really suitable for drawers - although they will work.
Blum advise against using the damper on drawers, as the load of the closing drawer is taken by the drawer front rather than in the runners. This can lead to the drawer front eventually coming lose from the rest of the drawer assembly. Blumotion softclose drawer runners and assemblies can be retrofitted to existing cabinets but it does involve replacing the entire drawer box and runner set up, as well as some very accurate drilling. I think its money well spent gives the kitchen a very nice feel to use and you can just push and forget as you walk away.
Doors are easy hinges often can have a unit clicked on otherwise there are screwons or knock in options seperate from the screw. Draw fronts i am not so sure about you could probably use a knockin unit if you put it near where the front attaches to the runner. Wouldnt be as good as the real thing but would help. Have look at your house plans and you will probably find that brick articulation joint has been missed.
