Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 01, 2012 10:54 pm I have just found my ultimate over bench light which is modern country/rustic styling, and it comes in stainless or white. i love the light so much, i am thinkign that i would love it in stainless over our white/white kitchen and then in white over our grey dining table. our walls are latte brown sort of colour so the white wont look so different there.. maybe.. [nerves]. does anyone have an opinion as DH seemed to think having 3 pendants over the kitchen and 2 of the exact same over the dining table was too much? the kitchen is kind of modern looking but the rest of the house is country so maybe its a way to tie everything in.. ;P Re: Kitchen Lighting 2Jan 01, 2012 11:10 pm I've been battling with a similar problem myself, tbb. My dining room flows on from my kitchen in an open plan room, and I currently have a single, large pendant over my dining table and I intend to have 2 or 3 smaller (different) pendants over my new breakfast bar. I hemmed and hawed for a while whether these pendants should be matching, but I decided in the end that it would be more weird if the pendants in the dining vs the kitchen were identical, rather than if there were different (but not radically different). I personally like the look of multiple, simple pendants over the kitchen bench, and a single more elaborate pendant over the dining table. I think your husband has a point - unless you can get the pendants in different sizes (so there is at least some difference of shape or scale), or unless the kitchen and dining are essentially separate spaces.... Re: Kitchen Lighting 3Jan 01, 2012 11:20 pm its definitely open plan, but is a big space. hmnz im now thinking similar styling but different.. like this pic where it shows 2 diff pendants? http://www.decorpad.com/photo.htm?photo ... toId=80983 Re: Kitchen Lighting 4Jan 01, 2012 11:22 pm oh and they do come in different sizes, but i dont think i can afford the big one? Sufficiently different so that it doesn't look contrived and like you've tried to 'match' everything, but also similar so that is provides a sense of symmetry. Perfect! Now, the hard part - finding pendants that are different, but have a similar quality, to the dining pendants. Check out these guys, http://www.onlinelighting.com.au/index. ... d79e48be74 they have more pendants than you can poke a stick at!
