Because of the dishwasher and ovens, the cabinets doors and drawers will be 60cm wide so they will look even. Should we line up the cupboard doors to the under bench cabinets, ending up with 60cm doors, as smaller doors may look odd? As these go to the cieling, lift up doors may open too high, and as there will be 5 doors, sliding will not work either. Re: Should I line up overhead cupboard doors? 3Dec 18, 2011 8:20 am I have got alot (too many to count) of house/kitchen/bathroom magazines with some fantastic kitchens featured in them. I just had a flick through a few and there is a mix of cupboards that line up and cupboards that don't line up. They all look good. Maybe the materials, colours and overall layout might make a difference to which would look better... Do you have to have even cupboards at the bottom or are you specifically after an even look?? Re: Should I line up overhead cupboard doors? 4Dec 18, 2011 8:25 am While I agree that keeping doors/drawers a uniform size does look better, 600mm overhead doors aren't very practical...mine are 350mm because the underbench drawers are 700mm (therefore 2 doors above each drawer) also not having handles on the overheads doesn't draw attention to their size. What I really dislike is a mixture of sizes and shapes and the bottom edge of overheads varying in height above the bench as is sometimes done near the rangehood. I also dislike seeing (eg) one bank of 4 x drawers next to a bank of 3 x drawers...gets too busy!! Simple, clean lines looks much nicer, imho!! Just my ideas and I realise these don't suit everyone! Do you have to have even cupboards at the bottom or are you specifically after an even look?? Still deciding on colour, but there will actually be an uneven number, 5, due to CS going to 3m, and appliances at 60cm. Our drawers will likely to have just a single front with internal drawers to keep the clean look, as we will be using Tip-On, so no handles for both drawers and cupboards. The option was to go with 6 x 50cm (in 3 sets); not sure how that would look, and my concern is it will look strange. I totally agree HappyCamper. Overhead doors shouldnt be wider than 450-500mm. You are better dividing the overhead space equally and keep all the doors the same size than line them up with the bottom and have them too wide. Is this because of the protrusion or due to limitation of the hinges? BTW, how long would kitchen cabinets take to manufacture over this period if the order is placed this week? More to do with protrusion but also looks. I think wider overhead doors look silly. I like to keep the proportions right. I guess 3 pairs lining up the middle of the centre door on the bottom might be the go, although space-wis we are ine as there is a 1.1m wide walkway between that sink bench and the island bench. Another problem comes up above the ovens; what do you usually do with that 60 cm width (as well as the 60cm width abovethebadjacent pantry)? Re: Should I line up overhead cupboard doors? 10Dec 19, 2011 11:52 pm It is a natural tendency to line the wall cabinets with the floor as our brains naturally seek out symmetry (in all forms). Don't knock yourself out getting too exact. Best bet is to go wide but proportional. Hi, Can anyone give me approx. price for overhead cupboards.
