Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Dec 11, 2011 4:21 pm We have designed our own floor plan and only have the kitchen left to work out. At this stage I have a single line style that runs along the end wall of the open plan living/dining/kitchen area. I plan on using my own industrial stainless steel bench as my 'island' bench which will be used for extra work space as well as storage for all the pretty white stuff. This bench will be approx 1800x700. We also have a large 1.8mx1.3m walk in pantry with open shelving that will hold electrical goods such as toaster, microwave, breadmaker etc. The custom single line kitchen, at this stage is 5.2m long and will have to hold the cupboards, standard size sink and 90cm stovetop and oven. We might also have a couple of other cupboards along the pantry wall but they will be too narrow to hold anything too wide - probably just glasses and plates. Does anyone know of a website or a company I can contact that will be able to help me work out how many cupboards a kitchen may need according to goods owned .. I hope that makes sense! Thanks all. Best thing is to measure the space you have got and then add a bit if you think you are going to get more stuff, or subtract if there is stuff you don't use that you can give to the charity shop. You normally start with the room its going into, then work out the overall sizes, then where the appliances go and then fill in the spots between. Having never designed a kitchen before, I thought there might be some special trick to making the most of space but I guess its just hope for the best! You dont have to hope for the best. Designing a kitchen is actually quite easy. Start with the overall size, position the oven, cooktop, sink, fridge, pantry and dishwasher. This is the most important step!!! Then fill in the gaps with either drawers or doors. TIA 0 16597 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 105564 They already have two well known ones (HIA & MBA) that many new home buyers mistakenly think are regulatory bodies that Joe Public can complain to. 6 18022 |
