Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Dec 04, 2011 12:13 pm Hi all, My carpenter starts my wall remodel tomorrow and I need to make a firm decision on the length of wall against which one side of my kitchen will be built, so I'm trying to get my measurements spot on for my kitchen cabinetry against that particular wall. I'm trying to minimise the amount of 'extra' wall space at the end of the run of cabinets - mostly because it would be a useless waste of space and I'm trying to keep the space as open as possible. So, along that wall I will be having the following cabinetry components (based on my own logic - which might be wrong!): 1000 mm corner pantry in the corner, obviously, followed by 18 mm vinyl wrap panel 400 mm tall cupboard 18 mm vinyl wrap panel 850 mm fridge cabinet 18 mm vinyl wrap panel 400 mm tall cupboard; and finally, one more 18 mm vinyl wrap end panel at the end of the run. With this layout the fridge will sit between 2x400 mm tall cabinets, which is the look I'm going for. The total length of all of these cabinetry components is 2722 mm - I would consider adding an additional 25mm to the adjacent stud wall (to allow for a little play) giving a stud wall length of 2747mm. The end of the stud wall will be plain, square set plaster, with no architraves etc. Does this all sound reasonable? Have I included enough panels etc? Will the 25mm additional wall space provide sufficient flexibility should the corner (where the corner pantry will be) isn't entirely square? Thanks for your input - trying not to make an expensive mistake.... Re: Urgent Wall Reno Assistance Required! 2Dec 04, 2011 4:58 pm All sounds right to me. Just be sure that your cabinet maker uses panels in the fridge space. It is also possible that they might laminate the side of the cabinet and not use a panel. Going by my very limited ability to read site… 0 2674 looks ok to me, round logs retaining walls are better than sleeper walls, more even preservative treatment and stronger since they include the whole tree and not just part… 1 2599 |
