Would love to do it without a join but so far the only option i can find for that is laminate and we didn't want to go there. If there are other options i would love to hear them. An option we looked at, then rejected, was to have it at two levels, say cooking/prep area, and eating area. Re: Island Bench 3560 3May 30, 2012 11:21 am Are you short by much? I cant remember what the max length of the sheet is. If its something small, you could change the style of your kitchen bench and have side shelves, so that your benchtop is the max size of a sheet, but the entire size of your island is the same. I cant find a good picture of what I mean. We have found a granite slab about 3.5 that the cabinet maker says will get us a 3.4 mtr island so i think we are going to do that. 160mm isn't much to loose when you think about it.
