Love them Re: Recommend me a new saucepan set 5Nov 28, 2011 8:14 am We have everything Scanpan as well and we are 100% happy (and we cook a lot too). Before going to your local stores check these online stores first: http://www.petersofkensington.com.au http://www.kitchenwaredirect.com.au http://www.everten.com.au Good luck Re: Recommend me a new saucepan set 6Dec 01, 2011 12:05 pm locus you can't go wrong with Scanpan. I whole heartedly fight this claim. We bought Scanpan 10 years ago and only 1 of the 7 pots/pans we have is still the original or useable. Wok- The only one that is original and is still useable. Big saute pan - coating degraded very quickly and they said it just needs a clean. Tried cleaning as they required then took it back again and told to re clean. I asked then to clean it and I would pay then for it. They said OK and when it came back they said it did not need cleaning but that I had used it at too high a temp and would not warrant it. This with a cook top that had the lowest flames levels I have ever seen. I constantly complained about the low flame of it to the wife. Small saute, small sauce pan, casserole dish, mid fry pan - All have coating coming off in patches. Was told I did not clean them properly. 2 covered, 2 not covered. Milk pan, small fry pan. coating is starting to come off. Won't bother trying. In my opinion, if you want a pan like a scan pan, then spend some extra money and get Swiss Diamond. They have a real lifetime warranty, which Scanpan no longer have on some of their products now!! Out laws have 4 Swiss Diamonds and they are brilliant. This is purely my opinion but I have also used what I think was one of the cheapest stainless pans in a holiday house I rented and it was better than my scan pan experience. FTR: I only use plastic utensils, I do clean the pans properly and well, I don't (couldn't) get them too hot. I may have just got a bad batch, but they refused to warrant all but 2 of my pans. Recommend me a new saucepan set 7Dec 01, 2011 2:12 pm My cousin works in DJ's homewares section and told me two years ago that Scanpan are the most returned and complained about item they stock in her section. I ended up buying Gordon Ramsay / Royal Doulton stainless cookware and it is fantastic. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Recommend me a new saucepan set 8Dec 05, 2011 3:12 pm Be careful of anything with a non-stick surface (Anolon, Circulon, Scanpan) as they do often fail unless you treat them with the utmost care. You can't take them above certain temperatures (ie use them on high heat), which means they are useless as woks and if you hope to get caramelisation on a steak, you can forget it. You also can't use spray oils on them as it creates a coating that adheres to the surface, and you really shouldn't use metal utensils, even if the manufacturer specifies that you can. I've started using a traditional, bare (ie not enameled) cast iron skillet for high heat cooking and I love it. It's by Lodge, and is factory seasoned, so it's virtually non-stick, and I just give it a coat of oil after each use. I've also seasoned my own carbon steel $15 wok from my local asian grocers and it outstrips the non-stick woks that I've had in the past. I also love my Le Creuset french oven and they do a great roasting pan that I'm getting for xmas. Re: Recommend me a new saucepan set 9Dec 05, 2011 3:47 pm Yep have tried most of the expensive scanpan, anolon, circulon and they didnt last me more than a year. Now i just buy 'cheap' french made Tefal or Aldi (crofton - italian made) non stick pans for cheap($20) and it outlasts the other expensive brands i've tried and after 2 years just buy them again if they're tatty. I've also got a carbon wok that is well seasoned and it gets a thrashing(high heat, metal utensils) and its still non stick and seems like it will last forever provided i dont drop it and crack it. My wife & I have had it for about 2 years & are very happy (so far ) It's completely non stick, to the point of not even needing any oil at all. We also have some Scanpan & Circulon cookware. I wouldn't throw a steak or meat etc straight into a Scanpan frypan without adding a little oil, but with the Stoneline I do & get no sticking at all. Same with eggs, pancakes etc. They're super easy to clean & so far they look the same today as when we bought them, which I can't say for the other stuff we have. Well worth considering. The frypan is the best, never had a problem with sticking and it cooks beautifully. The Baking Dish is great. Baccarat comes with a Lifetime Guarantee and I can see why. Re: Recommend me a new saucepan set 12Dec 07, 2011 10:37 pm Another comment from me. Although I've denounced expensive pans, and opted for cast iron (and the occasional tefal that I can happily throw out every two years), my good friend swears by Swiss Diamond. They are freakishly expensive (and use actual diamond dust/fragments in the non-stick finish), but they are meant to be excellent and suffer much less from the problems of hard-anodised non-stick surfaces used by Anolon/Scanpan etc. After about four years my friend found that the handle was becoming wobbly, and she had it replaced free of charge - no questions asked (from a House store, from which she originally purchased it). I believe they can be bought much more affordably on Peters of Kensington: http://www.petersofkensington.com.au/Pu ... %20Diamond. Good luck - and let us know what you decide! Re: Recommend me a new saucepan set 13Dec 08, 2011 8:37 am MmmmBalf One option that hasn't been mentioned is Stoneline (or Stonedine) stone cookware. <cut> Definitely an interesting concept, although expensive like most most higher end products The cheapest I found was 3 fry pans for $150 posted from Germany (on ebay) , which doesn't seem too unreasonable... I don't need anything for another 6 months so I'll keep an eye out for bargains. Re: Recommend me a new saucepan set 15Jan 03, 2012 7:32 pm We just got a new anolon set on www.catchoftheday.com.au! I haven't used it but it has a lifetime guarantee and heard fantastic things! It's a 3 x saucepan, 1 x sauté pan, 1 x deep pot (all with glass lids) 2 x frypans, & baking tray... It's all lovely quality! Was only $210 delivered... It pops up all the time as a deal (also seen on scoopon)! I figured for that price it's a great deal! Worth a shot anyway!! WORLD CONCEPT HOMES Our build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=44725 Re: Recommend me a new saucepan set 16Jan 03, 2012 10:06 pm I use Scanpan. I love it and have had 2 pans for years, neither of which is showing any signs of degradation. I use wood/plastic utensils, but also use metal tongs or a fork occasionally. I NEVER put them in a dishwasher (this is because a) I don't have a dishwasher and b) you don't need to put it in one) I also make sure I use low to medium heat on the pans. This is easier with an electric stove, but, when I did use gas, I always used the smaller hobs for my Scanpan. My mum uses Scanpan as well. Hers have degraded and the surface looks like it has built up a lot of "char". I believe that it is because she isn't too fussed about them and will just replace them when she's tired of the char build-up. Another thing that I have found that works WONDERS on Scanpan, is cleaning it while it is still hot. Whatever is on the pan will disappear with a bit of soapy water. I would also like to mention that now is a great time to get pots and pans at 50% off. For big saucepans I don't know if you really need non-stick, I only ever use saucepans to cook pasta. I'd stick with a cheap generic, but if you are sauteing, frying etc, you really can't go past the Swiss Diamond imo https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Re: Recommend me a new saucepan set 19Jun 10, 2013 4:56 pm I've had the same issues others have mentioned with Circulon. Only really affecting my skillet pan badly, took me a while to realise DH was using spray oil on it. Now I'm starting to get some loss of coating on my small saucepan, probably use that on high temps the most but only really for steaming and boiling. $20 Tefal frypan from Kmart is still going super strong though and cops a beating most nights Re: Recommend me a new saucepan set 20Jun 10, 2013 10:13 pm I have ended my search with a Woll Nowo Titatium. German made... $$$$... detachable handle(easy to put in oven and remove handle then put handle back on to take out of oven) but well worth it.
