Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Nov 08, 2011 9:05 pm We are about to build a house, in our kitchen we are having Quartz tops (Builders Promotion) and are thinking of using White Diamond Gloss laminate for the cupboard fronts and also the sides and the back of the island bench. I have found heaps of feedback about using Diamond Gloss on the tops, has anyone used the Diamond Gloss the same as we are thinking of using it and if so how did it work out for you? were you happy with its performance in that situation? Re: Diamond Gloss 2Nov 08, 2011 10:11 pm We've just had Ebony Macassar diamond gloss installed on the back of our island, can't comment on it's performace but it looks fab! I think diamond gloss is only available in laminate and fully laminated doors cost alot and chip very easily. The bar/island back is protected a little so you dont have to worry about it. Re: Diamond Gloss 6Nov 09, 2011 1:40 pm MelanieG Hi, We have used diamond gloss on our kitchen cupboards (vinyl wrap), and bathroom & laundy cupboards and benches. We are a few weeks off moving in so not sure what it is like to clean etc but it looks fab! Ours are in white too. Are you sure its Laminex Diamond Gloss?? I am sure that Diamond Gloss only comes as a laminate so it couldnt be used as vinyl wrap doors. From the laminex website, "Laminex® DiamondGloss® surfaces are premium high gloss laminates, ideal for helping you create a perfectly polished finish in your home. They combine brilliant lustre with exceptional scuff resistance. This makes them far superior to traditional high gloss laminates and a stylish choice for both horizontal and vertical applications. To enhance the appearance of surfaces, you can also choose from a unique range of edging including matching acrylic and contrasting options." I think it's polytec... is that the same thing? Bathroom & laundry are definately are diamond gloss. Im confused with the kitchen then!! I know it's very glossy! Diamond Gloss is a specific laminate produced by Laminex for bench tops. Polytec do a very glossy door but I am sure it would be a different name. I have no idea what it would be like on cupboards but we only had one 'heat' bubble where a hot pan leaned on it near the sink. a small bubble appeared then got water under neath and cracked. didn't spread but was a little 'fault' that can happen Thanks everyone 10Nov 16, 2011 7:34 pm Thanks to everyone that has provided me with feedback about using Laminex Diamond Gloss, the overall view that I am picking up from people is that it is a fantastic product. I am pretty sure that, that is what we are going to use. When it is all finished (in about 6 months) I will take some pics of the kitchen for you all to look at. In the meantime I would still appreciate feedback and any pics. Cheers. Re: Diamond Gloss 11Dec 08, 2011 10:18 pm Hey, I thought you all would appreciate this. I ran a search on Ziebart and for the most part it confirmed my suspicions, horror stories of dirty rags and isopropyl alcohol, undercoating on tires, swirls and junk. I manage the forums over at the US side of the Lexus Owners Club. There was a discussion going on about "Whats the best wax for my Lexus?", you know the kind of thing that gets continuously posted over, and over, and over again. Well, we're kind of chatting back and forth, I mentioned Autopia and tried to pass on what I've learned about all the different products out there, pros and cons and such. This guy posts and says basically "Throw it all away, Diamond Gloss is it. It is an exclusive spage aged material, not a wax or silicon polish, blah blah blah, you'll never wax again blah blah blah, no more swirl marks ever blah blah blah" I posted that in my opinion something like this was nothing more than a polymer sealant that was sold for an outrageous price, and that I reccomend people keep their $400, just a number I made up, and buy a bottle of Klasse SG or Poorboys or something. Well, the guy posts back quite upset, telling me not to speak of what I don't know, and quoted a whole bunch of stuff on the Ziebart website, swore it wasn't a polymer, but a polymetric resin! ( ). He also emails me and confirms my suspicions, he owns a franchise. He talks it up on the board and in the email, and I decide I'll bite and discuss it with him. I ask him what he would charge me for a bottle to try, or if he would part with a free sample. He immediately says, "Well, you might be able to find somebody to sell you some, but its much to difficult for a novice to master, it must be applied with an "orbital" and there must be specific steps taken to ensure that the finish is free of swirls. He also told me that the Ziebart store would do ALL THIS ("chemical bath" (dawn wash) remove swirls (SMR) polish to maximum gloss (polish or glaze) and machine spread the polish, oh and of course dress the tires) for the low price of $395 (My guess was right). I just about fell off my chair. Doesn't include the interior, thats extra! So sad, all the talented people on this board get less than half of that for the quality work that they do, and these hacks get $400 to spread a polymer sealant on a car. Hi, planning on using the attached stone pieces in my bathroom. I want to remove stains and gloss seal. Can I get some advice on best way to remove stains and best… 0 6709 This link might answer your question. I had the same issue and it turned out to be the roller. https://www.sherwin-williams.com/painti ... %20coating. 4 18155 |
