Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 18, 2011 3:16 pm We are building a new house. The contract has 40mm ceaser stone to kitchen bench and to the servery/benchtop included. We casually measured the thickness of the ceaser stone for both kitchen bench and the servery benchtop. The edge is 40mm in thickness right across the perimeter, but right across the entire inside area it is 20mm only. Is it meant to be like this, 20mm right across and only 40mm at the edges???? Re: Ceaser stone thickness 2Sep 18, 2011 3:37 pm Yep - slabs are only 20mm or some come in 30mm. To make 40mm they usually glue two pieces together where it can be seen. On unseen sections they use the single slab. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Ceaser stone thickness 3Sep 18, 2011 7:27 pm Yes its an industry standard for 40mm tops to only have 100mm returns under. All stones masons do it this way. The only place it should be solid 40mm is the overhangs including the full width of breakfast bars and large overhangs.
