I thought the kitchen company will be replacing the panel, instead I got this. This this the standard way to fix a chip in the panel?

You can see that there is a brad nail that has been filled (rectangular section infront of the capped screw) and the screw head itself. The edge of the carcase has most likely blown away when the screw has been tightened. Is it a big deal? not really. The only reason you can see it is because whatever is going in the recess (probably DW) hasn't been installed yet. Once it's in you'd never see it. Personally I'd have an end panel covering it anyway, so you don't see white when you open the DW door, but lots of cabinet makers don't bother. Having said all that, a wider shot would make it clearer. Well done chippy! You localised it with just a zoomed in photo. Thanks everyone for the help. Re: Is this an acceptable fix? 15Aug 29, 2011 9:18 pm gelatiii, Building a home is something we get very passionate about. Getting it right too. Hence the many responses. It's hard to get un-passionate! I know it's unseen but you pay a lot of money for your cabinets you expect top notch... but then again... It's not seen once the dishwasher goes in.. What do you plan to do? Re: Is this an acceptable fix? 17Aug 29, 2011 10:40 pm Maybe it's because I'm in the trade but it really wouldn't bother me. Considering there is a raw edge on the back of the same carcase I can't see it as being a massive issue, that whole end is not designed to be seen. As I said before, if you aren't putting in a dishwasher straight away then ask them to put an end panel on the insides of the recess. At least then you won't see it. That would be cheaper and easier for the cabinet maker than trying to replace the side of the carcase. But in all honesty I'd just install my DW and forget about it, there's plenty of bigger things to get worked up about. There is one other option and that is to have them laminate the side of the cabinet in place. The carcase panel in this thread now has another ugly hole in it. 2. This is a big problem, when they cut out the stove top hole they cracked the carcase in several places, I think if I pull on the pot drawers too roughly that will crack and split. 3. The end panel on the island bench is chipped and scratched. 4, Pull out pantry still not fixed. What's the proper fix for point 2?
