They seem to be for pantries? or as an extra sink on a bench away from the double sink? Size of bowl ? - depends what you would wash in the bigger bowl - e.g. big pasta pans or boilers - or do they go in the dishwasher? Re: Kitchen Sinks 3Aug 27, 2011 3:55 pm Well I know that I only want one cut out (polished) in the bench top. Under mount sinks with double cutouts are so easy to chip, so I definitely want to steer clear of them.. Any single bowl would have to be as big as I can get. Even though we know where to get the stainless steel kind for next to nothing (reece outlet) we are happy to spend the hard earned on this one. Re: Kitchen Sinks 6Aug 27, 2011 8:03 pm I like 885 U, but there is no draining board with undermount sink..is that cool? I wanted a draining board for putting dishes to go into the dishwasher and to also use as a hot plate thing instead of using the bench I would want 1 1/4 sinks at least though..I find tipping out the soaking pot before washing it..to hard, I remember after I have filled the sink! I got a franke sink. Not undermount though as didnt have a stone bench GOOD LUCK! Re: Kitchen Sinks 7Aug 27, 2011 8:07 pm I have a double under mounted Oliveri sink & am very happy with it. The bowls are both the same size you can get a dish rack insert to put in one of them. Everything goes straight into the dishwasher, my pots & pans get hand washed so washed in one, dry in the other. Re: Kitchen Sinks 8Aug 28, 2011 7:43 pm Careful also with under mounts as they aren't as hygienic as a top mount would be. Re: Kitchen Sinks 9Aug 28, 2011 7:46 pm We are having two of these side my side: http://www.clark.com.au/products/kitche ... undermount I think the drying bit looks so old school! http://lindeman28.blogspot.com - Our building blog Re: Kitchen Sinks 12Aug 28, 2011 9:16 pm Double. Old school perhaps-but VERY pratical! As someone who spends a vast amount of time in the kitchen I would never buy a house without one. I suppose it depends on whether you have a large family or a dishwasher. Any large amount of dishes can go in the dishwasher. Smaller amounts of dishes can be done in the sink then the 2nd sink has a drying mat sitting on top of it. http://lindeman28.blogspot.com - Our building blog Re: Kitchen Sinks 15Aug 29, 2011 5:54 pm Not all under mounts but some are just harder to keep clean, cause there is that unreachable gap between bench top and sink. Re: Kitchen Sinks 16Aug 29, 2011 7:16 pm I have both a dishwasher and a large family Trewman....some dishes are not suitable for the dishwasher and also some just need a rinse and drain as you are cooking, so ergo the practical ( correct spelling this time! ) side of me will overrule the aesthetic! Re: Kitchen Sinks 20Aug 29, 2011 9:22 pm My concern with an undermount sink with a stone benchtop would be the possibility of chips etc when washing large pots and what not. Trewman, I like your sink We (I) opted to not have a drainer also - love my dishwasher and anything else usually sits on the bench on top of a c loth anyway! Hi, We're building a double-storey in Perth and I'm undecided with the kitchen sink situation. I'm set on having the main sink with dishwasher in the scullery - and… 0 20893 No. It's not original. Circa early to mid 90s would be my guess and maybe even as late as early 2000s 1 6625 2 4669 |
