Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Aug 13, 2011 10:27 pm Can we do it ourselves or does it require a plumber? We have changed a single tap before, but have no idea how the mixer tap even comes apart Re: How do you change the washer in a mixer tap? 3Sep 24, 2012 8:17 pm jeffheath Easier to get a new tap installed. rubbish.... when you say "washer" i assume the tap is dripping, which means the seal around the ceramic disc is worn or obstructed........ you will need to turn off the water and release any remaining water pressure. Then simply remove the flick lever, and get to the disc to find out what style it is...... bunnings or reece carry them... not expensive. replace and away you go. Re: How do you change the washer in a mixer tap? 4Oct 07, 2012 1:33 pm If it's a "Flick-mixer" style (not necessarily that brand) you'll actually find they are sealed "cartridges". Pull the tap apart as "tengals" said (normally a pin to remove either the top or trim "jewel") to access an Allan Key grub-screw. Loosen or remove screw, remove top, lift out cartridge. There's only two or three different types, I saw them at Bunnings the other day for, umm....it was around $25, give or take a dollar or two. Reassemble.
