Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 25, 2008 4:32 pm Hi everyone,
I am new to this website. I am interested in installing a new kitchen in my house and am doing some research. I have a U shaped kitchen and a country style house. I need a new stove and am wondering whether an upright stove (which I currently have) or a build in oven and cooktop is better. My husband is a handyman and could install a flat pack kitchen, does anyone recommend any Australian websites that show good designs. Thanks Re: New to this website - I would appreciate your help 2Jan 25, 2008 4:58 pm Upright "commercial" style ovens are currently extremely popular but from a design and sanitation point of view have fewer redeeming features than a built in combination.
Upright ovens create intersticies in which preparation and cooking detritus can and will collect - I have not met many people who actually do regularly remove their upright from it's cavity to clean around it. Ovens mounted underneath cooktop height are ergonomically unsound; one is required to bend or crouch to even look into the baking area, and lifting hot items from such a low height is also an inconvenience - ovens are much better mounted at a height of 650mm upwards to allow easy access. Any good flatpack/ unassembled kitchen system should have the requisite cabinetry to accomodate a wall oven/ microwave or second oven combination. Yeah good points! Leaning towards Option 3 to get a bit extra space in the cabinets but not going too crazy high (and expensive). Would require a mini… 13 39703 |
