It might not be ideal, but would it be really bad design-wise for any reason (or for heat factor)?. There would be a panel separating, and then a small gap between the fridge and the fridge and the cavity - so they wouldn't be butting up against each other, but for all intents and purposes, they will be right next to each other? I am just thinking of trying to re-jig my kitchen to create a bit more bench space. HHCIB If your cooktop is close to a vertical sheet, then you probably have to extend the cooktop splashback (glass or tiles) around to the vertical sheet separating the cooktop and fridge. Personally, I'd try to avoid having the stove top/oven that close to the fridge.
