Here's one for the professionals!!! I know there are several kitchen installers on H1 and wondering if one of you could give me some help please? If you would prefer not to divulge any of your trade secrets, please feel free to PM doesn't bother me either way.
The kitchen installer has been here (yet again) to fit the filler panel above the F&P double dishdrawer and suggested not using the dishwasher until this afternoon, not a problem....moved into the house 8 months ago and haven't been able to use it yet, so what's another day or two!! Must be the horrible wind/rain/cold getting to me because I'm totally over it and since he has finally cut the filler panel to the correct size and had it painted (two-pac) I'm not calling him back again. This morning I also discovered he had dropped two large spots of liquid nails on the Caesarstone and had conveniently placed the glass chopping board on top...fortunately the LN had not totally dried!! I had suggested he work 'on' the chopping board as I'd prefer to have LN dripped there than the bench, but no!! I've only ever owned a regular dishwasher which didn't need a filler panel at the top so not familiar with what is need for this washer.
What I need to ask is what have you found to be the best method to secure this filler panel (95 x 605)...do you use the triangular top, slide-in brackets as supplied by F&P? alone? or with some other attachment? or do you have a better option? Does this filler panel stop the dishdrawers from tilting forward when you open the top drawer? When I just opened the top drawer a few minutes ago to finally 'test' the dishwasher the filler panel fell out....again!!
The dishwasher is in the short side of a L island bench with the sink and double cupboard under, along the other side. The first filler panel was too long and had been fitted across the 'front' of the cabinet (as opposed to 'inside' the cabinet) therefore the cupboard door under the sink couldn't open so the filler panel was removed while he 'thought about it'. Months passed and finally he's cut a new filler panel and had it painted but this fix a few weeks ago was with double-sided tape....the panel fell out about 10 mins after he left. At the time I made a comment that he had more faith in double-sided tape than I have because I've never found it very satisfactory for other than holding two pieces of paper together!! (slight exaggeration but you get the message?) definitely not strong enough to hold the filler panel long term and allow it to stabilise the dishwasher.
Now this latest attempt to secure it was with liquid nails on the rear of the filler panel and positioned against an L bracket screwed to each side of the cabinet opening, but that didn't last beyond the first opening of the dishdrawer as the whole machine tilted forward and once again the filler panel fell to the floor. The LN hasn't bonded to the back of the filler panel or the metal bracket, it had set but just peeled away.
I can send photos if required, PM your email address.
Thanks in advance
